Hi all. I'm not too sure if this is appropriate here, but I just lost my best friend. :cry

    He was the "Bigfurrykid"!

I guess it was his time to go to doggie heaven.

    Still in shock, but coping.

Anybody else lose a good furry friend lately and how did you cope?

Very sorry to hear that. :(

I've lost one. My boy now is 2, so hoping he'll be around for a good long time still. Losing a pet is never easy. They are so much a part of our lives and are just pure goodness.

    My condolences.

I told my boys to look for him and make him feel welcome. They're cats, but that's ok on the other side. :) I'm very sorry for your loss.

Not lately... nearly ten years ago. It's still a very painful memory.

Do what others have said, take the time to grieve. When you are done grieving, then you can move on. Just be sure to take it one step at a time.

Maybe you and Fred_G should talk.
Have seen mine hit by cars, one was killed in a B&E attempt.

Thanks to all for the responses and kind words.

As I said, he was my "Bigfurrykid".

He was a German Sheperd/Rotwieller mix and weighed in at about 130lbs.

He would have been 13 years old this year.

The whole family is taking it pretty hard.

That would be 91 in human years. Most don't go that long.
Fred_G has had his friend and family member for 16 years.

I find it a bit hard to post here. I would like to say I am sorry for you loss Bigfurrykid.

As a kid, we lost a few family dogs, but Fred is the first dog I ever got on my own. Damn they grow on you!!!

I'm sorry for your loss - people who don't have pets have trouble understanding how attached you can become to them. They are, indeed, part of the family - in a way they are perpetual children. It is never easy to part with one.

I got a puppy when I was six years old, and had him for 17 years. It was hard to imagine life without him around - he was my main man. Most recently we lost a cat who had been part of our daily doings for almost 16 years.

While even that loss was over a decade ago, it still saddens me to think of the days they each left us, and I miss them all over again. But, it does get easier in that the sadness loses it's edge over time.

I lost my yellow lab last year and it is a very difficult thing to cope with. I still get very sad when I see pictures of her but I keep them around to remind me of the good times!

I feel for ya, it's very difficult as a pet becomes part of the family. My condolences for your lose.

Hi bigfurrykid, I feel your pain also. It is the hardest thing to have to go thru, I have found. I lost my dog a few years ago, still feels like yesterday. She was 18, and lived a good, LONG life, and had a stroke. The stroke didn't do her in, tho, but it did paralyze her digestive system. Poor thing, could eat, but not digest. Even at the age of 18, she never made a mess in the house. She still went to the front door. she ate, then went outside and threw it up. I took her to the Vet, who confirmed what had happened. I held her in my arms. :(

Yes, it is hard, and the hardest thing I had to do too, and as Spad said, those who have pets understand. Hope you are alright. Think of all the good times you did have tho.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I've been a member of this site for a few years and always look here 1st when I needed computer support. But the support that I've received on this post is absolutely priceless. :grouphug

He was such a huge part of our lives, it will be difficult to get past this.

He was, is and always will be my one true "Bigfurrykid"
