for dragon age just need to take the time and really learn your abilities. Constantly need to evolve your party member tactics to fit the situation your dealing with. If your playing it on normal or hard you will die alot lol just make sure you save often so you don't have to backtrack.

Might want to try playing DragonAge on easy so you don't have to worry about friendly fire and things won't be as hardcore. Then once you beat it play it a second time through on regular or hard and you will have learned alot by then.

Dragon Age has a steep learning curve, especially if you're new to this type of RPG. Two things:

    1. Study the Tactics section of the manual, and set your companions properly. For example, you want the main tank to be aggressive, the healer to stay back and focus on healing the group and buffing them, et cetera. The "Tactics Presets" are essentially script sets that let you control what attitude and general abilities your companions will use in battle. If you learn how to use them and make the most of them, they make a huge difference for gameplay and fun.

    2. Micro-manage. The space bar is your best friend. Especially with rogues and mages you want to have complete control over what they do, pause and issue commands often. If you ever played Knights of the Old Republic or Baldur's Gate, it's similar in combat style to them. Taking down the difficulty level helps as well. Playing a mage became a lot more fun when I didn't have to worry about burning my companions alive, along with the darkspawn.

Can't help you with Fallout 3, I'm afraid. Never really played through that one. :)

Depends on what abilities you have... I coat my blades with poison have the archer stand back and do "pinning shot" to keep them in place. Do dirty fighting with a rogue to stun them (or shield pummel with your tank if no rogue in the group), then have the tank keep all their attention on him while the rogue runs around and back stabs them.

That's how I did it anyway. Group was Alistair The Tank, Leliana for archer, Wynne for healing, and my character is the rogue for backstabbing and other dirty tricks.

I'll put in my 2c about Fallout 3.
It's basically Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion... with guns, you need to take your time, explore, figure out where things are and how best to use your abilities.
Once out of the vault I suggest you stray off the main quest and go explore, there are mountains of quests and places in the Fallout world.
Try to use your weaker/cheaper weapons on minimal targets such as radraoches and mole rats and save your bigger better weapons for humans and other tricky foes.
Try to get headshots, if you played COD you will know why lol
Search everything you kill, don't bother with "Meats" as they don't really help and all they do is take up room in inventory.
Try to collect things worth money, about 70% of items can be used in some way like to build weapons etc, but most things are plentiful so don't be afraid to sell stuff to get health and weapons.
Save frequently especially if you are about to attempt something that could go wrong and especially when learning how to pick locks, that way you wont run out of bobby pins.
When you do pick up items check the weight to value ratio, example:
Finding 1 item that weighs 10 and is worth 20 isn't as usseful as something that weighs 5 and is worth 12. As you progress you will understand what I mean.
When you can afford it buy yourself the house in Megaton so you have a safe place to store stuff.

For all the info you may need about weapons, enemies, places etc....

    And for a map...

    http://www.fallout3hq.com/images/fallout3map.swf

Save before you minimize, it has a tendency to crash upon restoring.

Between those 2 pages you should pretty much find everything you need.
Remember, you can do any quests in any order, there's no time limit (with a couple of exceptions) so doing lesser side quests will help you learn the world and build your characters strength/combat abilities etc.

Also get the add-on packs to expand the game world and find some new interesting places.

Buy as many stimpacks as you can afford, I usually carry at least 15-20 because you never know when you are going to be overwhelmed by enemies.

Any other questions, just ask, I have about 50 hours into Fallout and have explored a lot, but only done about 60% of the main quest lol

1 last thing, learn to use your VATS system properly, don't use it for every enemy, try and gauge the situation and figure out how best to use it in each encounter, makes a big difference.

Wish the expansion was longer though. Seemed like I never got the chance to develop any relationships with any of my characters. I wanted to hook up with that chick you get from wending wood haha

you get the Megaton house from a quest that you can complete almost as soon as you get there (talk to the sheriff) or a place in tennpenny tower (for evil folks who dont care too much for Megaton lol). As for Stimpacks, only buy em if ya have to. early game caps are in short supply, and if you aren't being shot at you can save the stims and just drink water. radaway is everywhere lol. late game you'll have so many caps you'll start trading swag for stims just because you don't need the caps. the level 30 char i just finished had over 500 stims in inventory.

otherwise it depends on your character. general, don't take any stat over 9 and most don't go over 7. and DON'T power level. the level 30 char turned into chore to play. being chased across the wasteland by 3 albino radscorpions is not fun since one can kill you in about 4 or 5 hits. and being trapped in a subway with 4+ feral ghoul reavers is a nightmare.

Nedlamar is right, for specific questions just hit the Vault.

Thank you for pointing out the Megaton house thing, I think I was thinking of the house in Skynrad in Oblivion lol

yeah the Skingrad house is my favorite of the vanilla houses, followed closely by Berunious Manor in Anvil. I'm fairly certain I spelled that wrong :-D The Chorrol house is nice but I hate having servants' quarters and no servants lol.

Couldn't agree more about the expansion being longer, took me like 2 weeks to get through Origins, and the expansion, I was done in 2 days. Not that it wasn't good, just short. As far as tips, Mimsy nailed it with the comment about the pause button. I went through it numerous times, with different classes. But my fav. and def the most effective by far,(being the only combination I have been able to go through entire game on Hardcore) is My Main char is a Dual Wielding Rouge, Sten as the tank, and Leliana as a Lockpick/pickpocket/Archer, and Wynn is the key, if you let her AUTO lvl up, she will be a healer, with very little offensive magic,(unlike Morrigan), but I gave her lots of healing abilities, and also at least 5 different offensive spells. The toughest battles in the game were with the broodmother, Jarvia, and a few inside Denerim, when you are ambushed in the back allies back the guards and such, where there are tons of archers, all with scattershot. :cry :cry. Trust me, more than once in the allies I had to walk away from computer to keep from breaking down and calling in the military for a tank or a firebomb. ;) And also as Mimsy said caoting your rouges blades with poisons and coatings, go along way in determining the outcome of the battle. One of my main tactics I used is when I knew there was a mage coming up, I would take my main char,Dualwielding backstabber, into sneak mode, and sneak him in just behing the mage, and turn off AI, then click on sten and rush the room and everyone attacks him, then as soon as the mage begins to cast, sneak attack backstab from my main char for massive damage. Most combat damage dealt in one hit from my main char Rogue was over 800. and if thats not enough, a little coating of Magebane, would sap away his Mana before he can get off his MassParalysis, which can be a instant Pwipe. Either way, I CANNOT get past Jarvia with out turning down diff. to normal, I don't even wanna think about it. :major
As far as Fallout goes, I loved the game, but it has been a while since I played. I read in one of the other post that exploration is important, and that is absolutely true. As in this game I used sneaking. sneak attack with longrifle to the head would wipe out those Super mutant Brutes. Both are great games, and I loved hearing about how other people handled situations during the game.
