Thanks in advance for taking a look. I'm running an old Dell Inspiron 2600 laptop, Celeron 1.2 GHz, 384 MB RAM, XP Pro, SP3. Barring major surgery, the RAM is maxed out. I just use it to surf, word processing - no games.

I completed the cleaning procedure (logs attached). It still takes a long time to boot up. The idle process seems to use alot of RAM. If the cleaning worked, then maybe I need help with managing the startup. Your call.

    Thanks again for any advice.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You are not having malware problems.

Yes and I'm sorry but it always will be. Your PC is too old, too slow, and has only about 1/6 th of the required memory to properly run Windows XP.

This is not a process. It is just the time your PC spends doing nothing. Thus it should ideally be very high in CPU time.
