thank you everyone, i hope the birth goes according as well.......we have oped for a no drug birth....which means no epidural i hope i can handle it and i dont need to have it. i dont think it has quite hit ither one of us that the baby will be coming sometime within a week or two.

 

From what I know of this once the baby starts coming you can't decide to have the drugs then its too late:eek

Have you spoken to many mothers who've delivered baby's without drugs?

I'd be interested if there are any mothers reading this in your experience and whether if you had the choice would you have the drugs for a second baby.

I love the use of the term 'We' regarding the epidural, I'm sure I'd opt for a drug free birth,while I'm in the hospital hallway getting a coffee :-D

 

And we WILL want some pictures.

1 or 2 of Daddy passed out from this would be priceless.:-D

Congrats and hope everything is coming along A OK. Forget the epidural, just take the gas if they offer it :-D. LOL Our child was born without drugs (well, apart from the gas and 1 shot of pethadine, really early in labour).

yea i have and they all said that they had drugs for the second one but the key is the breathing they said.....makes me nervous but excited at the same time

no there is not but i went to the doc today and she expects me to go this weekend if not then ace and i are thinking of inducing Monday or Tuesday

 

How I missed this thread is beyond me. Though some one not telling me about it might have had something to do with it. But on the other hand she probably did. rolleyes

@ Mrs ACE I know what you're saying as far as being busy prepping for the baby I don't think there's a mom in here who doesn't understand. Don't remember reading in here but do you have any idea what the sex is or do you just want to be surprised?
How far over due are you? With my son many many moons agoLOLrolleyes, I was given 2 dates and never had him on those dates. The last date given was the middle of the month around the 8th or 9th of Feb. My son decided he would come out in his on good time on Feb 21. They had to use forceps as well. He was too big( & still is) and I was too small. But he was and still is a healthy young man. If you can tolerate the uncomfortableness until the baby is ready to greet you I would try that, but everyone is different and you need to do what is right for you & that baby.

Pros - the dilation time goes really, really fast.

Cons - the pain, comes along faster also, but then it's over faster also.

Our Baby got partially stuck in the birthing canal. All up from go to whoa was 6 hours from inducment. She (baby) would have been out faster if she wasn't a face presentation, maybe 3 - 5 hours tops.

My x-wife (well, I guess in this context she is more properly described as my baby momma ) also opted for a drug free birth.

I can understand avoiding any drugs or procedures that might effect the baby . . . but I couldn't understand why she would decline any meds that might reduce the pain involved with giving birth.

Her position was women had been giving birth for thousands upon thousands of years without such aids, and she could do so as well . . .

I just didn't (and still don't) understand the position . . . must be a female thing (or maybe I'm just a wuss :-D). I mean, we used to live in caves, also, but we came up with better accomodations. Cars used to have crank-starters . . . but the techs came up with battery driven starter motors to make it easier. Manual can openers were replaced with electric - it goes on and on . . .

I don't understand. If a drug or procedure will have no ill effect on the baby but will ease the birth for the mom, I don't see why not to take advantage of it.

Again - must be a female thing. I watched both my sons being born . . . if I live to be a thousand years old, that will be the darndest thing I've ever seen. How can that work? I have the utmost respect for the ladies . . . you hold the future. It is amazing what you do. I can't even imagine what it takes and what you go through.

 

It is a girl as far as we know (still not for sure but most likely) her name will be Laurel...and the reason for inducing is the pregnancy has been really hard on my hips and now that it is so close my knees hips back and heart burn are almost unbearable.

 

It is a woman thing at least with me...it is all about proving to myself that i am strong enough to do....if we have another child (hopefully not with in the next 5 years) i will probably oped for the epidural.

 

Still have my fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly for the incoming little ACE-to-be.

 

Her water broke early this morning. We're in the hospital now. Only a few hours to go. :major:hyper

I got bored. :-D Were just waiting now. Shes dilated to 7cm.

 

It happened really fast and easy. Were both half dead now. She is out like a light, and I'm fighting to stay awake. But we have beautiful baby girl :major I took some pics, but I forgot the camera cord at the house. I have no way to get the pics off the camera.:hammer
