So we have had a mom mobile now for 8 years. It's been a great car (Honda...awesome cars!) and served us well. It's been loaded up with kids, dogs, an occasional cat. It's been thrown up in (sometimes not by kids LOL), had every possible liquid spilled in it (mostly coffee, by me). The dog has chewed the handle trying to get at a little container of lotion my daughter put in there (he likes to eat lotion, yes.rolleyes). And it kind of smells from the milk that spilled about 4 years ago in the back that my daughter failed to tell us about. :puke

BUT, we have decided to give it up for a 4 wheel drive. One that can actually drive in the snow we always seem to get.

Getting the new car is cool. The most awesome thing though is all the tech stuff.:-D

    So this thing has:

-A harddrive that stores up to 3600 songs/pictures. You throw your CD in and it auto uploads all songs to the harddrive! :-D

-A USB port that you hook your iPod up to that interfaces with the car and puts all your info up on the screen

-A Navigation system that has realtime Weather, Traffic, and detours available.

-Zagat's restaurants reviews hooked into the Nav system

-Bluetooth for up to 4 cell phones

-Total Voice for every single feature in the car including your air and heat

-Two keys, one for each person that stores every setting each person puts in for seat adjustment, mirror, audio, air/heat, etc

    OMG, I'm in heaven

I may go live in my new car.

Nice ride Laura! I always chuckle when I load up the guns to go to the range. I have more $ in guns than my ride is worth. :-D

lol...if you're anything like the rest of the geeks on here, it'd probably be a Bentley if you stopped doing that. :-D

hahaha...thanks Fred. Judging by the new gun you seem to purchase regularly, I have no doubt.

    Thanks Pax.:)

This is my first 4x4. I'm looking forward to actually having a car that'll drive in the snow.

    Neat stuff Laura

I wont be without my BT and USB (Windows Mobile) connection in the car, reads back my SMS messages as well as controls the options etc dont have NAV built in so for you thats a bonus, but I do use my HTC HD2 for SatNav as its Sat functions are superb for SatNav.

looks like you will be spending the weekend reading the manual to the car, or like a geek you will be "winging it" :)

Have fun with it and be safe.

Manual?? You mean people actually use those books they stick in the glove compartment (or whatever you Brits call the storage in your dashboardLOL). I have the whole thing programmed already. No manual necessary, just trial and error and playing (that's the fun, afterall). My man asks me if I got his all programmed (for his key he has to set everything up again). Me: ummmm...no, I didn't. You'll have to do it. Him: *sad face* ...then asked our oldest daughter to do it for him. rolleyes

I love this too. Just like with everything, the sales guy is going over some of the computized stuff...looking at my husband!rolleyes He finally interupts the guy after staring at him blankly and says you need to talk to Laura. :-D

As far as the USB, D, I've never had one. Very cool! I think I'll be liking this.

Yes it would if you put real winter tires on and have a foot to drive through.;) I have found that up here, people think too much of them, yes, they will get you through some tough situations but they still have to stop, which many folks forget!:-D Besides the 'invincible' part. :p:)

I remember one guy was trying to get on the highway by backing into an off ramp during a heavy storm in rush hour, tried to cross the median to cut in and got hung up on there!roflmao

Well yeah Laura, I do read mine after a few weeks, and the Glove Compartment is a suprising coincidence, we call it the same ;) just dont call the "boot" the "trunk" as thats what elephants have.

Fender.... where the hell did that originate from (being serious) as we call them bumpers, kinda apt as it bumps into things if you not careful.

LMAO on oldest daughter sorting out the settings :)

Ooooh USB is neat as you jusy load it up with MP3s and your are off, mine also comes with an app I can add to be really geaky and allow me to map what my MPG, accelleration, braking and gear changes are to allow me to change my racing habbit and save fuel in Eco Drive (its a FIAT thing, but your car maker may have similar, allows you to map your driving on your PC..... told you it was geeky in a *more speed* sort of way)

LOL, no silly, they assemble the 'upper' for my AR-15 platform modular lead deployment system. :-D You can get different uppers (barrel, receiver, bolt, and all in different calibers. I will be building my own next year. My main gun expense now is ammo. :wine:guns

And I just got an email from them, that it has shipped!!!!! Next weekend is going to be awesome!!!

No way augie. There is a huge difference between 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive in the snow we get down here (6-12 inches generally). Now, I have seen the idiots you speak of who are driving their 4WD trucks and think they can go normal speed. I'm just looking for a car I don't have to worry about getting up in a hill in.

I have no idea where the word fender came from, D. Mostly people will refer to them as bumpers here also. If you get into a little accident, though, they will call them a 'fender bender'.

Your USB sounds way cooler than mine. I don't think mine does all that, but I'll have to actually break out the manual now and check it out. LOL

Thanks! So far so good. :)

    Ahhh! heh

hahahaha...If there is that gadget out there, I bet Fred would get it. :-D

We have some weird phrases across our respective countries, just made me thing where did that word come from, like my all time fav and nearly got into trouble once with it is "fanny pack" thought you have to be sh**ing me, until a barman told me what the phrase ment! UK it is called a "bum bag" not that many use them now, likely same in US.

Nah its good and has many functions, the led screen in the central part of my daskboard is neat and allows alot of functions but as my ploy worked and you will have to read the manual, no doubt yours will be similar, just mine was based off a colaboration with Fiat/Ferrari and Microsoft, think also Ford USA use Windows Mobile OS in some of their cars.

Being able to add 1000s of songs to a cars memory is great as it saves on CDs as they cannot hold much, plus it allows you to change easily the types of music you like, I would never have a car without USB connectivity now and likely you will be the same soon.

I do love the front styling of your car, very angular and modern, but as a photographer where are the pics of the beauty? ;)

That's one great looking vehicle, Laura. And tons of uber cool tech-stuff. Should keep you occupied for a while, at least. ~ I'm happy if my vehicles have electronic climate control and DVD players LOL.

Just remember 4x4's can't really go up 60 degree slopes and leap canyons in a single bound.:-D
