Will be working at the pub surrounded by three televisions rolleyes I have no interest in football. Serving drunk men beer is bad enough but drunk football loving men...damn LOL Wish me luck....

But seriously, although I don't enjoy football I still understand how others do. But to me it's just a load of men on a pitch kicking around an over inflated bollo%k :-D

Hahahahaha I wish you luck Emms, but lets hope the drunken football bums, give you loads of tips.. the £££ kind.

I'm not a great football fan as the players get paid too much for what they do, just hope that the England team play for England and not their next sponsorship deal!! they sadly think of themselves as celebrities these days, they are Z list IMHO.

I'm now in a dilemma as the Qualy for the Canadian GP is on at the same time as the England vs USA game.... mmmmmmmm

Hmm, Maradona looks weird. I don't know if it's his 3 inch tall hair, the way he can't cross his arms across his chest or the fact that he waddles like a duck. What an antithesis of his former self!:(

Good game :) We looked pretty good out there, silly error but no big deal IMO the team worked pretty well together we created some great chances and that's what I want to see, good teamwork creating opportunities, as we settle down those chances will turn into goals.

    I'm happy,well played USA...

Better than the last two games vs Japan and Mexico. But in the second half why play long speculative balls? These players can pass the ball around for their clubs, so why not for their country? Lampard and Gerard especially.
Heskey had a good game :eek So did Onweyu :(
    Sack the board ;)

@ Robert Green.....Shit happens. Still say Capello should have taken Steve Harper.....

That's what I was screaming at the TV I wanted to see more possession and technical passing to get the US tripping over their own feet, once an opportunity was brewing though we seemed to step up get a handle.

I think in the second half we were the better side. We created plenty of chances but just lacked when it came to finishing them. Credit to Robert Green, he did pull off a very good save in the second half.

We watched most of it at work. Actually more fun to watch than baseball. Looked more like Calvin Ball to me, as I never bothered to learn the rules. :-D

But what happened? Here I thought you Brits were going to give us a right and proper schooling on the art of Kickball... :wine

  17. Nedlamar

Well, I did'nt see the match and havn't yet watched the highlights so I can't coment on the quality that either team played with... but I did just watch the goals.
Englands goal was well taken if pretty generic.... the USA's goal, he got it on target and full credit for getting the shot but lets be honest, the shot was weak and what in the name of all that is holy was Green doing?

I'm sorry but "Shit happens" as Joey so rightly said.... IMHO does not fit when these guys are paid as much as they are, always bugged me how much sportsmen make but you know what, if they are really worth however many hundreds of thousands they earn then that kind of mistake should NEVER happen, maybe it was nerves, maybe it was this and that but when it boils down to it you have a World Class keeper playing for England in the World Cup.... and he has butter fingers?..... essencially costing England the win and hitting the team with a Moral loss.... I feel for him because I'm sure he's in turmoil right now but DUDE!!!
Oh well, from what I've heard it was a good clean match with good sportsmanship and a result no one at this point can really moan about... get out of the "Draw" scenario though boys, otherwise we will just have a repeat of last time.

You lot must be busy, then? Do you work for the Council? :-D

Really, Fred, believe me, if we had had a modern day Alan Shearer or an English Lionel Messi on the pitch, you would be crying into your Budweiser now. Unfortunately, Heskey, for all he had quite a good game, missed the best chance he had all night when he shot straight down Howard's throat (Oooooh, Matron!) when he had the whole goal to aim at.
I stated earlier in the thread it wouldn't be the walkover everyone was expecting, the US have too many decent players to have been lamped, but just as I fear for England's chances in the latter stages of the tournament, I have to say that your lot have a lot more to worry about than we do.
That's just my opinion, as from what I saw, you ain't got a lot to offer up front. Our keeper only had two saves to make. One of them was world class, one of them, your goal, wasn't even a save, it was a straightforward gather that Green spilled.
Still might meet you lot later in the competition if things pan out, but I don't fancy your chances if there is a round two.

  20. Rikky

The thing is though we only have two choices keep him in the squad or dump him,if we keep him in the squad we have to have to sweep it under the carpet QUICK and move on to the next game or he'll just screw up more thinking about it all the time.

If we beat him up over it and dump him from the squad they'll probably find him in dead in few weeks with empty bottles of vodka and pills with the mistake he made on the TV playing on repeat.

EDIT I can't tell you how much of a relief it is to me that we conceded a stupid goal instead of our defence being clinically broke down.

  21. joey off the street

joey off the street Lounge Lizard No.1

He'll get over it. I think he's still the strongest of the three keepers we have out there. James is a complete liability and Hart ain't got much international experience. Capello needs to stick with him.
Anyway, judging by the game I'm watching, we could start with eleven outfield
players and still win both our two remaining group games.
    It's encouraging, at least.

  22. Fred_G

Do I work for a council? No. We simply have the ability to multi task, you know, do more than one thing at a time. And I don't consume InBev products with the exception of Hoegaarden beer.

Live in the past all you wish, we stilled tied you when your press thought you would roll over us. "it was a straightforward gather that Green spilled. " Which might just happen again, since he appears to be a good 50% goalie.

Go have a good cry in your Robson's, and dream of your past glory. Just jerking your chain a bit. :-D It is kickball after all, not a proper sport.

    roflmao Love your diction.

Just watched another goalie's howler. Keepers are having a great World Cup this time round. Algeria vs Slovenia, poor game.

What, just cause my spell check thinks stilled is a word? :-D I meant still. Apparently, my spell check is from our prohibition era... :cool

And your Edit is a very good point there Rikky..... it may also have acted as an early wake up call with a simple message... "Ok, no more flocking around"

  29. Fred_G

You blaspheme! I am not going to Canada until it surrenders to my superior firepower. :-D

Even then, I would only visit this time of year, when we have 105 degree heat index... Hmm, maybe I could do a sneak attack while you are all glued to your TV's watching Canada play kickball. :major

  30. joey off the street

joey off the street Lounge Lizard No.1

And there is the flaw in the plan. The Canucks are like Americans, they've heard of it and know it exists. Only they think football's played on ice. And only a maximum 388 people from Vancouver go to any game at any one time.
The rest of Canada is manning checkpoints with big guns waiting for old men from across the border coming to introduce civilization to the frozen Tundra. Probably.

There are over 2800 Tim Hortons in Canada, thats approximately 280,000 hard/stale doughnuts that are locked and loaded...... if I were you I would reconsider that statement :-D

I think that's the first shot I've seen in this World Cup that's been hit from distance with power and hasn't ended up in row Z.

The Germans looked real fluid tonight. They should win that group easily. If England and America should finish first and second in their group, one of these will play Germany. First in Group D (Germany's and Oz's group) plays second in Group C (England and US's group)
Hope to funk it's America playing them. But I think on their day, England can beat Germany. September 1st 2001. Germany 1 England 5. Done.

Ahhh, that would explain the large amount of Police in Tims at any given point, scouting the area? :-D
Thats the great thing about Tims, if a crime happens there, the police don't need to be called because they are either already there or on thier way :-D

As for the World Cup.... yes, I see Germany have come out guns blazing, big moral victory for them, will stand them in good stead for the next game at least, but really.... did we expect anything less? Probably one of the few countries who take Football more seriously than the English.

Wow, Japan beats Cameroon?:confused Italy vs Paraguay should be a good game according to my Brazilian/Italian friend who's coming over.

Wow, the Aussies are withdrawing from hosting the 2018 Cup. I'll have to read up on the reasons why. Probably too damn expensive to hold!

Sorry, forgot. Translation from Dutch to English (refrain):

    Go Holland Go
Don't let the lion stand in his undershirt
    Go Holland Go
Don’t make the animal wear his slippers
    Go Holland Go
Don’t let yourself be played off pitch
Because a lion wearing football shoes
Dares to take on the whole world

Interesting game in just over two hours Portugal vs The ivory coast, only interesting in the fact I want to see Ronaldo get his legs ripped of by a nice two footed straight legged slider!

Come on Ivory coast,if your not sure where my dislike of Ronaldo or Portugal comes from.
