Just heard on the radio a story about a woman in Kastikicoalistan (can't actually remember the name but somewhere out that way lol)
She up'd and move to Russia, 2000 miles. Left her cat with a neighbor, left the cats bed and toy etc and said goodbye hoping the cat would live a long and happy life.
Unfortunately a week after she left the neighbor contacted her and told her the cat had gone missing.
This was 2 years ago... recently the cat turned up at her house.... 2000 miles and 2 years later. No one knows how the cat followed her over such a large distance.

This is not only a heart warming story but..... Holy bejesus!!!

    Edit: Found a link.... http://web.orange.co.uk/article/quirkies/Cat_follows_owners_2000_miles

I would be the last one to say this is an outright lie but there has got to be some poetic license in there.

A cat is an incredibly smart animal but unless they have learned to read map it is impossible, when a cat goes for a walk and it wants to return home it follows it own spore or if it has been to the same place a few times it knows the way home.

But without a spore it will just wander aimlessly, also if you do the math that is 20+ miles per week every week for two years, also who gave the cat the address.

I got to agree with the bionic belgian on that one. Across town, maybe.

2000 miles away? Directed by what, scent? Maybe telepathic communication with the Loch Ness monster?

I think somebody is telling a pretty tall one there. ;)

Don't be so hasty. There's something about animals we don't quite understand. How can fledgling birds fly to Africa in winter? Why don't they fly to the Arctic Circle? They've never flown 2,000 miles south before. Then they fly back to the same place they were born the year before. Homing pigeons can fly to their crees in a garden from hundreds of miles away. Instinct? Fish have the same thing. Maybe every animal except humans can do this. A sixth sense or something. You never know. I keep an open mind.

Though rare, there have been a number of such reports, mainly regarding dogs, of pets finding their owners once they moved. Hell, my ex tracked me down after 5 years!! Spooky!!:-D:-D

I have heard of this before, never 2000 miles though. "They" (whoever they is) say that birds use the earths magnetism to navigate north and south for the spring and fall. I have seen one thing with my own two eyes many times. There are two ducks that stop at my moms little pond every year, same date. There for two days and gone.

Yea yea, I know how do I know they are the same two ducks? Simple, looks like a duck, quakes like a duck, it's the same ducks.

There was a story I seen on the news. Where a guys dog ran across the USA and met him at his new location. And they said well it could be any dog that looks like him. But the Code numbers in the neck is the same match as the dog he had back in time.:)

There have indeed been reports of such things in the past . . . dogs (and cats, but less often) showing up at their owners new addresses - or in one documented case a dog was lost while the family was on vacation in Yosemite national park. The dog somehow found its way home over several months and a few states over.

It is very odd, but not at all unheard of.

I have an open mind and realize that animals can find their way home.
This one is a bit unrealistic when you consider that the cat had never been to the address or even the city and to walk 20 miles per week without deviation from the true direction for two years non stop is just too hard too swallow.

But that dog knew where his home was. How on earth did this woman's cat find out her new address? Presented in cat-speak, that was understandable to the animal and easy to remember...
