Where ya been?

I remember when I signed up there were alot of regulars that aren't here anymore. Anybody know what happened to them?
Musksnipe, Wenchie, etc. I can't remember anymore, but I remember there are a bunch.

Muskie was a naughty boy but i have seen him lurking around, he just does not post any more, as for Wenchie i know she had some problems at home and maybe she has not sorted them yet.

There are many others who just drift away to other forums.

my computer knowledge is slim so I dont really post I just read, so Im not logged in. I mainly posted in hot topics because I couldnt help myself.

 

People drift away, get lives outside the internet, have children, etc. It happens.

 

It's sad. Lol.

 

People come and go, it will always happen I'm afraid.

 

Ironically, I rarely (I can think of three times, all when I had a question) venture into the tech side here. Now it's because I know I don't have the knowledge to make it worth the bother looking, but originally it was because I did not work here so I didn't have to. This was my "escape from the forums I moderate" place for years. :-D

 

I've only been here 5 years or so and the regulars seem to have changed 3-4 times.

Every so often people start pining for the old days with the old regulars 'I don't mean you Zdawg' just in general because it always seems better when you first join a forum its all new and exciting.

People forget that there are new members and some really cool people just joining in and their first experience is happening right now,only speaking for myself listening to people say the forums not the same since the old regulars left or bring back the good old days kinda made me feel like chopped liver when I first joined.

Not directed at you Zdawg I think that's just something I had bottled up inside:-D

 

We move to others thing like me, but i come to the lounge from time to time.....

 

I understand. I always say that. "I wish we could get back to the way things were.

 

Ya, I totally agree! Folks come and folks go, for whatever reason. I know a forum can seem cliquish to the uninitiated which kept me out of the lounge for many years, besides the fact that I had nothing to say either!:-D Some will still say that I don't have anything of quality to say.:wave. It's just like a party where you don't know anyone though most folks will welcome one into the conversation anyways.

Actually, I enjoy the influx of new folks as some are quite unique though unfortunately most don't stick around. I also miss some of the old regulars here but then that's the reality of a dynamic forum, things will never remain the same.

 

Probably the reason for my lack of posting over the past 6-12 months tbh.

 

I am just around 3 1/2 years here but still look forward to logging on in the mornings to see what happened during the night (most US members are in bed when i get up.

As i said in an earlier post people just move on to other things and some of the new members find it a bit techi here but that is the object of this forum to help the less informed (like me)

I have seen some seriously out of order posts here but fortunately the mods do a good job of only letting things go so far and no further, that is why MGs is respected throughout the PC fraternity and why we have so many MVPs.

HBT was one of my favorites but i fully understand why it had to close and some members left because of it but all in all a great place to hang out.

 

True, and I'm also busy moderating on the Overclockers forums too, I think it's one of the busiest in the UK so very time consuming!

 

Don"t want to go off topic, as you know i was on the receiving end of some vitriolic comments but always tried to remember our golden rule NO FLAMING.

Yup, it's only us out-of-work folks who have time to check forums eight times a day! LOL With any luck at all, that'll change for me come fall. :-D

Halo, I think you nailed it in post#9. Since HBT has been gone, the Lounge has turned into a more 'milder' version of it, in my own opinion.

It should be a place where everyone can and should get along, but sadly it is not.

Thanks! It won't be new work, exactly. I'm finally getting my knee surgery this summer, which means no more crutches, which means I can start doing my job again! I couldn't be more excited! :-D

Ya, last post I saw her make elsewhere was May 16. I really hope she's taking a break from forums.

I do remember that she had a flaky machine for quite a while and perhaps it finally died. Still...

I'm back :wave spent a ridiculous amount of time in the hospital, most in ICU. My only vice in life was smoking and it took it's toll.

 

Great to see you back Darlene, i hope your lungs are on the mend.
I know you have had breathing problem but i did not equate that to your absence, glad you are back on your feet.
