Congrats Oma :cool Damn that was a tense game,my heart rate was up just watching and I had no vested interest in the outcome,the last few minutes just then were breath taking.

What about Giovanni's strike from about 50 yards? Unbelievable,the goal of the tournament for me.

 

Thanks Rikky!! Yeah, Giovanni's goal was tremendous!! I saw it after the match when a replay of the game's highlights were shown. Kept myself busy in the kitchen cooking up a storm during the game and on MG as well. My hubby would yell me the scores.

Am afraid that history will repeat itself on July 11 if Holland will play against Germany this time around. :eek Holland lost in the final to Germany in 1974. :cry

GERMANY VS SPAIN TONIGHT! what an amazing match up,dare I say this should have been the final IMO but nether the less I can't wait and I can't pick a winner.

Either penalties or Germany 1-0.

 

Jeez, all of a sudden from too much to watch down to 2 games left. I usually root for the underdog so it'll be Holland/Spain. I can do that because I don't gamble but the Germans have a young and fast team. I hope it'll be a high scoring game, there's nothing worse than penalty's to detract from a real win. May the best teams win in spite of the refereeing.

Some of the Dutch fans want it to be Holland/Germany so they can get revenge for the 1974 final, and others want spain because the German team are a jinks.

Great game, only saw highlights but I can honestly say all 5 goals were very well taken.
Both captains goals were stunning but as Rikky's vids show, the dutch captains goal was one of the cleanest shots I've ever seen from that far out. Excellent result

Man thats a tough one, by rights Germany should take it, but with such a young team the pressure is now on more than they've ever known, they have the better team but the question is... can they keep their heads?

I give it to Germany... 2-1.

 

The 1974 WC Final, Holland-Germany was played in GERMANY! That gave the Germans an edge in winning the cup I suppose. This time whatever team will finish in the final today will play the final on neutral terrain. I hope it to be Spain but honestly doubt it very much, unless a miracle happens.

I'm sure it was a madhouse yesterday in Holland and am positive that some didn't show up at work this morning due to hangovers. :drink :drink

It's not a grudge Fred, it's just a love and pride for Holland bubbling up during events such as this World Cup that ignites memories of previous WC as well.

Soccer fans become country fanatics during the WC!! It's the honor and pride of their country they're defending/promoting. :-D

If Canada would have qualified for playing in the WC this time, I would be cheering for Canada.

Spain v Holland. That's gonna be a good game of football. For all Spain are technically superior to Holland, Holland have the advantage of having Arjen Robben and Wesley Schneider in the side. Two of the best players at the tournament for me. Outstanding.
I rate the Dutch but Pedro, if he starts, could be the thorn in the Dutch side.

Well, to my thinking, Holland have won a lot of games 2-1. They are more than capable of beating Spain, who are bound to score, so I predict Netherlands to beat Spain 2-1 @ 14-1. Well my last bet of the year,I have Holland to take the win 12/5@£10 and my outside shot is interesting because the odds of either team winning in penalties is identical @ 10/1 so I'm sorry I like the underdogs but I have Spain to take it in penalties 10/1@£10.

I think it will be a low scoring affair but I hope I eat my words and lose and its a great game.

Tickets are $2,500.00 each. Estimated viewers worldwide: 1 billion Dont' think that any other CUP would have that many viewers. That makes it official: there is only 1 worldcup and that's the soccer one.

 

Well half time, hopefully they will come back out and start playing some football.
The ref is a little trigger happy too, almost pushing the players to be too afraid to play because every time 2 players get close to each other the whistle blows.

Holland need to speed up the pace and up the pressure, Spain are playing a very calm game and Holland are letting them, we need to see Holland play the game they play best..... it also would be nice to see some of these guys run, it almost seems like half of them are still alseep.

 

Half time 0-0 that's what I expected neither team on song very evenly matched,you could say Spain looks slightly better but nothing worth shouting home about.

What I didn't expect is the shear brutality,5 yellow cards is already? 4 yellows in the first 20mins damn!
