    4.6 G~I~G~S!?!

    My son is coming for a few days, and his mother sent me a link for a free "Trial" of this video game he plays online..."World of Warcraft" ... so, it's been downloading for...oh, I don't know, about Five HOURS now... and it's only at 491 MB ... "4%"!

    Two Questions
    :

    1. Is there any way to speed-up this process?

    2. I'm on a slow DSL connection here...am I gonna have enough "juice" to power this game once it arrives ("IF", in fact, it ever does)??

    My specs are attached (also with an NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 display adapter)

    Thanks in advance...

    Better pack a lunch at that speed. Maybe breakfast as well.
    What does SpeedTest show as your download speed?
    DSL should be faster than that.

    It's pathetic - I attached it -

    Download = 0.12 MB/s
    Upload = 0.04 MB/s
    Ping = 327 ms

    The ISP here offers several DSL speeds (like, six different plans/levels of speed I think?), we can only afford their slowest one. We used to have dial-up, and we figured at least this is faster than that...

    I also attached the WOW download screen - it's been over 12 hours now and this is all I've got...

    Been easier to have got the disk. Faster anyway.

    Speaking of which, I recall hearing that once before - any clue where I can pick-up a "Trial" disk, please?

    The speed of a download is partly determined by your connection, partly by the server the file is coming from. If you have a very fast internet connection but the WoW trial server is extremely busy, the download still won't happen very fast.

    It might help you to turn off any other devices that are sharing the bandwith of your DSL, like a PS3 or another computer, but at the rate your download is going, it's still going to take you several hours. Are these the download speeds you normally get, or is this particular trial download slower than average?

    You'll be able to run it just fine, Blizzard made sure their subscribers won't be forced to upgrade every six months in order to keep playing.
