    Hello everyone!

I own a Gateway M-6750 notebook which came loaded with Windows Vista Home Premium. I am a novice computer user; I only visit secure sites, I do not use p2p programs, and I use my laptop for work and university. My work gave me a copy of McAffee AV, but the key expired in December 2009. I've been "vulnerable" since. My family will use my laptop whenever I leave it out in the open and I believe this is the cause for my recent mishaps.

Last week I was replying to an inquiry for a post I put on Craigslist and out of nowhere 3 command prompt windows opened and AntiMalware installing along with a Windows Defender looking type program. When I saw the command prompt windows open my reaction was to turn off the notebook. However in the 5 seconds it takes to shut down the laptop by holding down the power button the damage was done. I booted up into safe mode and had a go at it with Malwarebyte's, Spybot, and CCleaner. It found AntiMalware installed and a few other things. It asked me to reboot the computer to remove the scum and I did so. However I was still concerned if that was all of the scum so I would do another run at it with Malwares and to use Normans Malware Cleaner. I tried to access safe mode by pressing F8 befor windows loads and it wouldn't let me access the mode select screen (I have windows 7 installed on another partition, which is my backup OS in case anything happens to my main OS.)

I booted into Vista and my internet browsers were opening random webpages. This is when I opened up Mozilla (safe mode) and came here.

I followed the instruction in the malware removal thread for Vista. And now I'm asking if you can please help me weed out anymore possible threats.

I would like to mention that when I tried to run Normans Malware Cleaner when my computer was infected it gave me an error 0x0000002 nsdi.sys or so. And when I tried to run it in Vista it gave me the same error 0x00000002 but said nsaki.sys

Attached are the logs. Thanks for the informative tutorials on how to remove malware.

*****************************I would also like to Add my Rootrepeal crashed.

    You are most welcome. :)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
