Just wondering if someone can tell me if this possible. I have a new custom built desktop. I have my copy of Vista on it which I do NOT like. I have my HP version of Windows 7 from my Lappy with the fried MB. I tried to install it to see if it would and I get this message after it loads windows files and choose the language selection,, "This cd/dvd is designed to correctly function on HP computer systems only". Thought there may be a way to manipulate my hardware to look like an HP or vice versa with the software. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry, ain't ever gonna work. It's looking for specific hardware and not finding it.Turn off UAC if you hate it so much and as to the rest, give it a couple of weeks.;) It's not that bad at all.

You can only install OEM software on the computer it was issued for. You need to buy a retail copy of Windows 7 for your computer (upgrade version, since you already have Vista installed).

I would only upgrade to XP. We just upgraded 100+ computers to Win 7 at work and there are LOTS of issues with it. We are seriously considering downgrading back to XP Pro.
