You seem to have no problem with starting threads. What questions do you have? Software, hardware, malware? Each "thread" that you start will have a check mark next to it. You havent made any threads other than this one since Oct. 09.

so a thread is a request and to answer it is to post? and a tag is a sort of headliner. i am still sort of confused but the thing i am searching for is how to make my pc run faster, smoother, etc. it seems to lag a lot. i recently purchased a registry cleaner and did not notice a single improvement - in fact it seemed even slower! i got a refund. i use avira and advanced system care free and 10bit security and seldom have any serious malware that i am aware of. what section do i search in for above solutions please? i am using xp and a 2003 dell tower. thanks for encouragement. k

You need to start in the software forum. They may refer you to the hardware forum, especially if your hardware is a bit lacking, but start in the software forum.

I think it is each thread that you are currently subscribed to. There is a check mark on each thread I am, but it may depend how you are set up in your User CP.

Not really. The forum automatically subscribes you to any thread that you start. ;)

It's pretty simple. If you start a thread rather than just replying to it (as you started this one), the default setting for the forum software is to subscribe you to it. Which means you should receive an email notification (I think that's how it works...I immediately changed my default upon joining) when someone replies to it.

Have you been to the Welcome Center yet? There are several threads there that help explain forums in general and this one in particular. Lots of good information to be had! :)
