router to modem to Internet

Just tried to set up a wireless router that was existing in a network running in the past and it will not get Internet access through the modem from the ISP. The lights are good from the modem up to and stopping short of giving a green light for Internet or Activity.

I can not ping the modem knowing the admin url or ip address.

I do notice the admin page for the wireless router is in a different subnet than the modem from the ISP: 192.168.1.1 vs 192.168.0.1.

I can reach each part when plugged directly into the ethernet port, gaining access to the modem admin page and the wireless router page.

Need a little more info.
What is the make and model of your router?
What is the make and model of your modem?
Open a command prompt and type the following without the quotes and paste all the results back here, "ipconfig /all".

Have you logged in to the router and set it up?

 

I was logged into the wireless router but could not reach the Internet through the router while in via ethernet.

I am not sure now if the problem is solved, this was meant to help someone else out. I will have to call and see what's going on.

Siemens SpeedStream 4100 ADSL Modem

ROUTER:
D-Link 2.4GHz DI-514

ADAPTER:
D-Link DWL-122, usb (to be used on extra pc)

issue resolved,

the router wasn't maintaining (keeping) any setting changes, updated firmware and still wasn't keeping settings...

bought newer n wi-router and it's running nicely... thanks everyone for looking in
