Tried getting into the BIOS? Like safe mode but a different key depending on machine. Sounds hardware related, Reseat or swap out RAM or try a disconnect of optical drives for starters. BIOS sounds like the only thing left to try...

    Got Root?

You want to change the boot up order. Make the CD/DVD the first device and then see if you can boot to your OS disc.

OK.....can you get into the Recovery Console?

    If so, you could run
fixboot and see if that helps.

Yes, you boot to the cd and choose the first "R" which should take you to the recovery console. There you can run both:
    fixboot
    chkdsk /r

Are you saying you have a recovery partition?

when i hit f12 to get to the boot menu one of the options is "boot to utility partition" this brings up a menu for system diagnostics tests

have you done a memory test? or did you swap or move sticks around?

Memtest is a good freeware utility, bootable via cd, floppy, or USB.

    Hi

With reading over your thread, and that you cannot get into Safe Mode or boot to the Recovery Console, plus even adding the HDD into a different PC and still get the same BSOD, I would say if you can get your important data by slaving the HDD (docs, images, internet favs, settings, downloads, music, video etc all that you think is important) then I would save them all and re-install Windows if you have a XP CD that is.

But before that, do me a quick favour and if the drive is still slaved to the other PC run Malwarebytes (do allow it to update or update it manually) on it, choose Full scan and when you get a list of drives, just choose the drive thats got the problem only.

also what you could do is to run the Antivir Rescue System CD with your affected HDD back in its original PC, and to create the CD from the downloaded exe just double click it and have a burnable CD handy, then in the affected PC make sure your boot order in the BIOS is set to 1st boot device CDROM
