Funny enough, the internet on computer in question was working fine for a bit, enough to get updates on SAS and MWB... however after i ran MGTOOLS and thought I was done... went to update a fresh copy of avira, and it couldnt connect to get the update.

went to browser and got an odd diagnostic result that i have never seen before when i pushed "diagnose connection problems" I have attached a screenshot of it along with logs...

64 bit system, so no combofix or RR logs to report.

also, odd thing i just noticed. there are 4 imaginary removable usb mass storage devices listed in "my computer" . when i click safely remove device they all dissapear, but when restart they are there again.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

The error message showed you what was wrong. ;) You have Proxy Server settings configured and probably don't use a proxy. See the below to fix this:

    Proxy Server - Changing Settings

Not malware. They are part of your system and you should not be removing them.

What is your original reason for running the cleaning procedure?

    You're welcome.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Re: problem not so solved

Earlier I ask why you were running the cleaning procedure. If this is why, you need to give us a log from Avira so we can see what you are referring to.

If it is just something in System Volume Information, it is a System Restore file and you would have to disable System Restore to remove.

Yes that is a problem with Avira and several other AV programs that improperly detect MGtools as a problem. It is much less of a problem than the AV programs themselves. ;)
