Hi, I am getting a good connection to a VPN service (pptp), quick initial connection and good throughput speeds, but it is disconnecting appx every 25 mins to 45/50 mins (tried on 2 of their servers in 2 different countries).

I'm not getting any system errors, connection errors or firewall errors, can't see anything wrong in router settings either, settings must be ok or there wouldnt be a good connection for a while.

I'm new to using VPN services, but this is happening in both windows & Linux, so I can only guess its not an OS issue either. I have sent VPN people an email but still waiting, so thought I would ask in here in case there is someone who has used vpns for a while.........is this down to my ISP (AOL)??............any suggestions or ideas would be very much appreciated, thank you.

Y ok, it dissc, what about the policies? We also have a rule that dissconnect any client after a period of time for security, did you check that?

thanks for your reply itmortiz, when you say "we also have a rule" where are you speaking from?, by this I mean, are you speaking from a company or group that runs a VPN service??.........

I did get good reply from the guys that run the VPN service that I am using and they explained several possibilities including unstable ISP connections etc. etc..

I should report that in the last couple of days my connections have been much better and not cutting out after the above mentioned times.........so I guess this post could be ended, not that there was much activity in this thread anyway.

As i know with Cisco and Open VPN there's an option to dissconnect all clients in a period of time (security reasons).

ISP could be a good reason too.
