    Welcome to Major Geeks!

What is the below new folders for?
    2010-08-03 14:40 . 2008-11-02 16:14 d-----w- c:\program files\Drumagog40
    2010-08-03 14:23 . 2010-08-03 14:23 d-----w- c:\program files\HILOLLALA
    2010-08-01 23:27 . 2010-08-01 23:28 d-----w- c:\program files\sparffdsf
    2010-08-01 16:54 . 2010-08-01 16:54 d-----w- c:\program files\HIGH
    2010-08-01 16:30 . 2010-08-01 17:11 d-----w- c:\program files\BEWSH

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:5643
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {0BF43445-2F28-4351-9252-17FE6E806AA0} - (no file)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it has expired or need to be updated to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Now run Ccleaner. Only use the Run Cleaner button. Do not run anything else on any other forms.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Hi! Thanks for the help so far! :D

Oh - and it seems a little better. Still kind of slow compared to how it was though :(

Your logs are clean. You did not answer my question about those folders.

Please explain what operations are slow! For example answer the below:
    • Is boot up slow?
    • Is shutdown slow?
    • Is browsing/surfing slow?
    • Is downloading slow?
    • Is running any/every application?
    • Is it also slow in safe boot mode?
    • Also are any processes showing in Task Manager to be using a lot of CPU time?
    • Anything else slow?

    Hi sorry.

Those folders are all ok, I made all of those. It's where I installed some of the programs like hijackthis (i didnt know if it was possible for virus's or malware to hook on to regular named folders of fixing software - I appreciate this is probably stupid ;()

Um, surfing is a bit slow, and there's also something re-directing some of my google searches now.. pleasewaitsearch.com or something keeps coming up and sending me to stuff like gumtree.

    Could just be your ISP.

    Try the below.

There are quite a few infections around that can infect router hardware. If you have a router hooked up then you need to follow the instructions for your hardware and reset it to factory default settings. Normally there is a recessed push button type switch that needs to be held down for some number of seconds to do this. After resetting to factory defaults on your router, you will need to reconfigure the router for your network if you have made any changes to the default network setup.

Also Download TDSSKiller from Kaspersky to your directly onto your Desktop
    • Now double click the TDSSkiller.exe file to run it ( if using Vista or Windows 7 do not double click on it but rather, right click and select Run As Administrartor. )
    • Allow the application to run if prompted by Windows or any security programs you have installed
    • It will start the scan and run rather quickly and will notify you of whether anything is found or not.
    • Follow the instructions to delete/quarantine if asks you what to do when if finds something.
    • Whether an infection is found or not, a log file should be created on your C: drive ( or whatever drive you boot from) in the root folder named something like TDSSKiller.2.1.1_27.12.2009_14.17.04_log.txt which is based on the program version # and date and time run. Please attach this log to your next reply. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post[/URL] )

    Thanks once again :)

I will reboot the router, and here's the log.

You're welcome. That log is clean.

Not just a reboot. You need to reset it back to factory defaults and then re-enter all of your proper configuration settings for your network. A reboot would not fix a DNS infection if it got into your router which could be the cause for hijacks. A simple reboot however could sometimes improve your throughput.
