I made a post in the software section and it was removed and nobody contacted to tell me why it was removed.

I want to know way it was removed so I don't do it again.

    Hi

What was the thread called and about? (sorry but most of the time we are busy and just move threads to the area they best cover so dont always send PMs out, we may do for new users to the forum, but old hands should know where the best place for a topic is and what types of topics are acceptable)

I dont off hand remember moving any of yours in past day.

include Admins and mods with the below, from the Forum Rules :)

EDIT: Could it be this topic on an app (moved to programming as it looks best area for it) HERE

I posted about a utility I found that makes it easy to share screen shots.

I guess it was maybe considered advertising for profit or something.

And thanks for posting that. I've never read the rules when I signed up back in 2006 :-D

Yeah sometimes they don't delete things, they move them to where they ACTUALLY belong and don't leave behind a "moved" placeholder because that's just e-trash lying around wrecking the e-lawn.

So it wasn't removed, just moved.

Generally it's better to PM an Admin/Mod regarding the issue rather than start a thread about it...

Or just go to your statistics in your profile and click on your 'find all posts by_' link.;)

Ah glad the mystery is solved.

An in MAs thread on new good apps, never know he may add it to the downloads list, so all in all a better thread to get it noticed.

I just had the same thing happen to me.
It wasn't a shot at TimW.
I was just trying to point out to "OP"'s that a quick click on the "Thanks" tab is "common courtesy" if you can't give a more detailed thank you.

And gee...sometimes members are to quick to bring attention to a situation (your deleted thread) before the PM can even be sent b/c the Admin is busy handling multiple things on the forum at the same time.rolleyes

A little patience goes a long way.

    Thanks Abby Sue.
But in over 6 years I've never had a PM sent to me over a deleted thread.
Just wiped with no explanation. :cry

If you had a thread deleted and no one contacted you it would be b/c it was a case of "common sense" in that it was assumed you would be able to easily figure out why on your own.

In this case, I would have PM'd you an explanation if you didn't first see for yourself why but as previously stated...I was handling multiple things at once so hadn't had a chance to do it yet.

May need to review that as I have one saved in my outbox on a specific topic from 2009, that I sent to you and you replied, I sent is as it was the correct thing to do at the time for a long standing member.

For some threads tho, we do not have the time to send PMs to everyone, if we did then we would get nothing done and I would definatly not get time to answer any tech questions, which are more IMHO crucial than a PM over a moved or deleted thread, UNLESS the thread broke rules etc

and on the rules members do need to review then once in a while as they dictate the type of threads we may delete and moving threads I mentioned in my 1st post as to older vs new members, in that older members should know by now the topic areas to post in, why post a car topci in the lounge when "YOU" all asked for a motoring, home, electronics, collections forum topic headings... so dont use them and they will at some point go, and make way for something new or nothing at all.

I get PMs all the time over "why was my thread or post deleted" from members and those that have PM'd me know I will do my best to reply with an honest answer, may not get to you right away but I will try and find out why it was removed.

We do not remove threads/posts and move them also for the fun of it, in the main its to get a thread to the correct area for the question, we could leave them but the forum would look a mess and we then would get threads or report a posts stating why have we not moved the thread to the correct topic, moderation is not as easy as many think, its a juggling job of fairness but firmness.

Majorgeeks is about tech support primarily and some fun secondary.

I too have PM's sent and replied to by you Bazza regarding deleted posts/threads. I keep a back up of all my messages that pertain specifically to the forum. Just never know when a look back will prove helpful.:cool
