I am using Windows 7, and was using Windows Live Mail when I first got this computer. I was able to get Windows Mail working but it won't remain as my default email program.

I click YES when I open the application but that didn't work. I went to Control Panel > Default Programs but Windows Mail isn't there to select.

    Any idea's?

The default mail program selection used to be under Internet Options, but I don't know if this is still the case with Windows 7.

I can access default programs from Internet Options but Windows Mail does not appear as an email program to select.

    Windows Mail

I am able to use Windows Mail now with Windows 7 but it won't stay as my default email. I log in and select YES to make default. I even go to Tools > Options > General and select DEFAULT but it won't remain default. I sent out a command from (winmail /reg) and it didn't find the program. Help.

You will not see "Windows Mail" anywhere in Win 7. Windows Mail came with Windows Vista. Win 7 came with no email client. But, Windows Live Mail can be downloaded and installed in Win 7. Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail ... they are not the same thing.

I realize they are not the same, but I do have Windows Mail, that is not supposed to be running on Windows 7, working on here except that it won't acknowledge it as my default email program. That is the only issue I face now :cry

    Hi

Never tried these steps as I do run WLM and Outlook 2010 as my mail apps, but know that many liked the old Windows Mail app, so give the steps HERE a go and the reg files are the likely things you need, but do read all the pages first.

No luck. I need some registry edit advice I think.
