    Hi guys

    Over the past few weeks my comp has been running a lil slow, I think i opened a email off a friend who was hacked but i am not sure.

    Do i need to put my comp spec here or will the logs do fine?

    I have completed the cleaning procedures to the letter, there were no problems that i noticed?

    Would you guys mind taking a look at the logs

    Cheers

    Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    File::
    c:\windows\system32\bulawasi.dll.tmp
    c:\windows\system32\jonefede.dll.tmp
    c:\windows\system32\nijoroze.dll.tmp
    c:\windows\system32\rulufutu.dll.tmp
    c:\windows\system32\warihagi.dll.tmp
    c:\windows\system32\waseyibe.dll.tmp

    DirLook::
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\WCLD8Kw

    Registry::
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB}]

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Let me know how the computer is behaving now.

    Hi sorry about the late reply i have been away also i am not receiving email confirmations that you replied, so sorry fo that.

    I did what you said here is what happened:
    I dragged the file onto Combofix and it loaded then it updated, and then continued on, is that ok?
    Also combofix then restarted my comp and when it rebooted it began running again, whilst the reboot happened tho ZoneAlarm switched itself back on. I was able to get a log but dont know if its the correct one
    With MGtools i could not find C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat maybe i am just blind but i could not see it in the folder, so i re ran MGtool.exe was that wrong?

    I will attach what i have got and let you take a look

    Again sorry if its wrong

    And thank you

    Use windows explorer to locate and delete the following bold folder:
    • c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\WCLD8Kw

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
      related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
        for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Hi

    I have noticed some weird things that have appeared on my comp since the cleanup began. I only noticed them after my last message.
    The first thing is there is a DVD icon on my desktop that says settings.dat
    Also this has appeared in my C: drive 'Qoobox'

    Are these safe? i thought i would ask incase they interfere with the rest of the clean up

    Also my comp is running slower than it was

    Thanks Again :)

    After the clean up you won't see the settings.dat file, or shouldn't do, as hidden files will be reversed back to a hidden state. Qoobox is from combofix.

    So complete final steps ;)

    You made this statement:
    Please explain what operations are slow! For example answer the below:

    * Is boot up slow?
    * Is shutdown slow?
    * Is browsing/surfing slow?
    * Is downloading slow?
    * Is running any application?
    * Is it also slow in safe boot mode?
    * Also are any process showing in Task Manager to be using a lot of CPU time?
    * Anything else slow?

    Hi

    I am not sure if i should be running the cleaning now so i will just answer the questions that you posed

    Boot up is slow, i mean it takes like 15 mins to load
    Then loading programs ‘word’ took 5 mins to load is slow even task manager loads slowly
    Browsing is slow, it keeps saying not responding then responding etc even writing this now its taking a long time and it took like 10 mins to even load firefox.
    SVCHost.exe System is running at 150,000 + K
    WUAUCLT.exe is running at 160,000 + K
    All the rest are ok some running at 30,000 to 50,000k
    Shut down is also slow
    It works ok in safe mode as well
    But I just rebooted in normal mode and it booted fine, it seems as though it boots fine one time and then ages the next, could it be anti-virus or zone alarm running scans?

    Perhaps you could upgrade to 1GB of memory, I find XP runs smoother on 1GB. 512MB just doesn't quite cut it, and you don't have alot of physical memory available.

    • Total Physical Memory 512.00 MB
    • Available Physical Memory 279.02 MB

    We can take out some start up items to see if it frees up any resources for you. I can assure you that it is safe to follow final steps after doing the below, and then you would be better off visiting the software forum to further discuss the "slowness"

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    Now you can follow final steps.

    Hi

    Cheers for the help i have completed all of the steps to clean my comp, just out of curiosity was it badly infected?

    Yeah i have been thinking of getting more RAM just hope the extra 512 will not be expensive. may even just buy a gig and get it over with.

    I will see if the RAM cures the slowness problem, if not i will repost in the Software forum.

    Since i have completed the cleaning i should now be malware free yes? I just thought i would make sure. Also would what we have done check for viruses or is that a totally different kettle of fish?

    Again i cant thank you enough

    The Tick :)

    Not really, no, nothing that wasn't difficult to remove. Those files I removed were of the vundo strain.

    Yes, 1GB of ram should sort you out nicely.

    By all means, do, yes.

    Well, I wouldn't have given you final steps and all clear if I thought something bad was still lingering. ;)

    Of course it did! :) What the scanners didn't kill off, I got rid of through the use of combofix. We check for all types of infections.

    You're *most* welcome. :) Safe surfing!
