    Hi guys

    I recently had the antimalware infect my system. It has had a weird impact on the system (Windows Vista 64 bit) e.g. My wireless card drivers have disappeared so I cannot access the internet, there are 6 calendar widgets on the right instead of just one and tons of other issues.

    Anyway I have run all the removal tools as instructed but it really has not helped. Please see the attached logs.

    The pop ups have now disappeared but I still can't access the internet (the error is wireless drivers not installed). The multiple Calendar widgets are still there and the laptop is very slow and sluggish.

    I tried reinstalling the wireless card drivers but have had no luck.

    Please help!

    What is inside of this directory? Do not click on anything inside it, just report back to me of the contents.
    • C:\Users\Shaz\AppData\Local\{D0422C00-29BE-40D4-A18D-23212DF1ADE2}
    and the same for this one please:

    • C:\ProgramData\{93E26451-CD9A-43A5-A2FA-C42392EA4001}

    If you did not deliberately set this proxy yourself then please include it in the HJT fix below:

    • R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:6522

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    Download and run OTM.

    Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it into notepad, save it as something appropriate and attach it into your next reply.

    NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

    Also delete all files in the below bold folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Let me know how things are running now.

    Thanks for getting back to me. In response to your queries:

    C:\Users\Shaz\AppData\Local\{D0422C00-29BE-40D4-A18D-23212DF1ADE2}

    This has a folder called chrome, chrome.manifest and install.rdf

    C:\ProgramData\{93E26451-CD9A-43A5-A2FA-C42392EA4001}

    This has the folder x64 in it.

    I followed the MG tools and OTM procedure as requested and have attached the OTM log.

    I have also deleted items from the Temp folders.

    Please find attached the MG tools Log.

    Overall, I still have the multiple calender widgets issue. The wireless drivers have been detected and I can access the internet, however, the system tray (bottom right) is showing that I am not connected and that no networks are available which is quite strange.

    Looking forward to your comments.

    Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated !

    Hmm, can you screenshot the multiple calenders? I am not seeing anything unusual in those logs, the contents of the folders are more than likely all ok too I just want to check to be sure.

    And tell me what's inside of that x64 folder or inside of any other folder in there?

    And tell me the contents of each of these folders, chrome and chrome.manifest.

    Now run this.

    Using ESET's Online Scanner

    Do the multiple calenders appear when you boot into safe mode? :confused

    I ran ESET's online scanner and it found 1 trojan but my laptop crashed during the first scan so I had to scan again. It didn't find any viruses the second time and didn't give me an option to generate the scan report.

    I had attached a screen shot of the multiple calendar widgets.

    Thanks

    I would have liked to have seen the results for myself.

    Yea, somehow I don't think that's being caused by malware, this is something that you may have to resolve in the software forum. In the mean time, one of those folders you showed me the contents of needs to die...

    Code:
    :Files
    C:\Users\Shaz\AppData\Local\{D0422C00-29BE-40D4-A18D-23212DF1ADE2}

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2782/4174320048_f01c448b32_o.png button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it in your next reply.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    BESIDES the calender situation, how are things running?

    Thanks for the quick reply.

    As I mentioned, the laptop crashed during the initial scan and therefore I was unable to retrieve the scan log. When I scanned the second time round, it did not find any viruses. Is there a way to retrieve the initial log/quarantine folder?

    I will follow the additional procedures requested and post back the results.

    Your help is much appreciated.

    Hiya. Thanks for your help.

    Please find attached logs for OTM and MGtools.

    All is looking good apart from the wireless card drivers. For some reason they keep getting deleted and I keep having to turn off the laptop (a restart doesn't even work) and turning it back on in order for it to install the drivers. Last time it happened was when I turned off the windows sidebar (in order to get rid of the multiple calendar widgets) which makes me wonder if both issues are related.

    Please let me know what to do regarding the wireless card driver issue.

    Thanks

    You will have to further discuss this in the software forum.

    Your logs look good now.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
      related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
        for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
