Dell inspiron 1420 green and pink graphics.

I am attempting to fix a friends dell laptop which recently was knocked off his couch and now displays green and pink pixels and colors. I saw this post...

and this is clearly not a screen issue or malware :-D
The first time i saw it i immediately came to the conclusion that it is the graphics card or inversion cable screwing this all up. Before delving into the computer to replace either i just wanted a second or third opinion. Another thing i noticed was when i placed pressure on the RAM or CPU the colors would lessen or go away completely, and with a slight tap they would come back. :confused this led me to thinking it isnt specifically a problem with those items but in flexing the board altogether, which kinda sounds like a loose part maybe a inversion cable. Anyhoo all thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated.

Regarding the linked thread, it was posted in the Malware forum so that's how it was dealt with, had it been posted in an open area, someone else would have been able to offer different advice.

With a standard monitor showing (or lacking) certain colours, I'd suspect a breaking cable or bent pins(s) on the connector. Turning to your problem, a partially broken cable (common) or a loose connector (also common) would be the first things to suspect.

 

"standard monitor" are you talking about hooking up a secondary monitor to the laptop? or are you just talking about the laptop screen.

Comparing it to the equivalent laptop monitor.
