Random act of kindness

I decided to go to the supermarket as I had no food in the house. As was almost there it started to rain a little. As I was walking around I slipped on wet spots not once but twice, once inside and once outside the store right as I left. My knee was killing and by this time it was a full blown pour down rain. I waited a few minutes but there was no sign of it slowing so what could I do but walk home.

I was about half way home with a throbbing knee and tears pouring down my face mixing with the rain (because at that point it started to rain even harder rolleyes and my knee really hurt that bad :( ) when a man who was driving by me, pulled over, got out and was rummaging in his trunk, only to hand me an umbrella as I walked by. Of course, I started to cry harder because of this random act of kindness really touched me. So now, I'm at home with a bag of frozen broccoli on my knee and I'm a little pissed that it's all sun shiney now LOL

People like him give me hope that there are decent, selfless people still left in this world. :)

Nice story!! Always a real sense of goodness existing in the small acts of strangers!! Play it forward when you can. :)

Totally agree with TimW on this! When I was driving a semi and stopped to help people, I wouldn't accept anything but would ask that they help the next person that they saw in need of it! :)

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

And now, pay it forward - it'll do your soul wonders when, in the future, you can repay someone with a kind deed...

Y'know what else was so nice about this guy - not asking if you'd like a ride (which would be scary) - just giving you an umbrella. I hope your knee's better!

I believe that the time to be worried (the scary time :eek) would have been when he pulled over and started going through the trunk.
Glad for you that he wasn't that type. :wave

The thing is I usually do kind things for other people..maybe it's just coming back around to me.

Thanks... my knee is busted up pretty good but I think the broccoli helped LOL

A friend I told the story too said the same thing but I was so angry, sad, upset, depressed that I just didn't care if he was gonna kidnap me :-D

OMG, hrlow2 - I never even thought of that!

Nice about the broccoli - vegies really ARE good for you ;)

Same here - I changed a tire for an elderly couple not long ago, and they tried to pay me for it. I just told them to pass it on, like I always do in such cases.

Also agree with the thought that it is good coming back around to you. I am a firm believer you reap what you sow. Do negative things, and you tend to attract negative things and results to you; do positive things and you attract that which is positive. I also have to agree with hrlow2 . . . I got a panicky jolt when I reached the strange guy rummaging part of your post :eek. Must be my job . . . I just assume the worse out of people. Thank heavens he was a good guy.

I'm sorry your knee hurts you, Dyamond :( What do the Doc's say about it?

@legolass, I heard veggies are good for your eyes and everything and now it's good for knees too :-D

I didn't go to the doctor. I am going to write an angry letter to the supermarket because nobody helped either time I fell. :mad

Like I said at that time I really didn't care what he was going to do.. I was feeling quite hostile and wasn't ready to be messed with LOL

Just thought you'd like to see a picture of the damage :-D

Ouch! - That's gotta hurt, Dy!:(
Yeah, sometimes people do great things in a small, but important ways, that restores my basic faith in humanity.

Years ago, in the days when I was broke and had get around in an old p.o.s. car, that the gas gauge didn't even work, amongst other things. The inevitable happened one day and it started sputtering and running out of gas. So I decided to pull over on the median strip to avoid an accident. Not so great move. It was the middle of summer and about 110 deg. in the shade and all sandy and boggy. Yeppers, I got bogged, big-time.
I was wondering what the heck I could do as the ground was way too soft for the jack and no branches or anything around to jam under the wheels.
After a minute or so, no longer, out of the blue a 4 X 4 pulls over in front of me. Some guy I didn't know from Adam gets out and starts shovelling like a manic under the wheels and on his stomach in the sand and heat. Gets me out in a jiffy. Fills the tank up with petrol. So I say thanks a million, he says That's okay, gets back in his car and takes off.
Been a few times when people have helped out of the blue and I've done the same, so yeah - it does "go around".
Hope the knee heals up soon, Dy.:)

You need to go to the doctor, young lady, and have it looked at. If not for yourself . . . think of your shoes!

Oh - couldn't see the picture

Glad your felling a bit better D but as suggested a visit to the doctors is advisable, you could have damaged the cartilage.

Nice to see that Samaritans are alive and well.

And the store may have video to help you file a claim to help repair what seems bruised at best.

It took them 2 days to reply to me and it was this generically lame message.

Really? that's your response to my claim? rolleyes Now I guess I have to wait to see if anyone really responds to my claim since it's been "forwarded to the appropriate individuals".

Is that gonna be like the "Top men" that were supposed to study the Arc of the Covenant in the Indiana Jones movie?

Let us know what the doctor says, and how it is going. Knee injuries are nothing to treat lightly. A cousin of mine did, and an injury that could have healed ended up being a permanent problem for him.

I can safely assume that a smart gal like you is going to the doctor, right? Right? :)
