Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

    ...

    Just reminiscin'...

The Who, during their 'Who's Next' tour - my first concert, was maybe 17...

Jethro Tull - Ian Anderson sitting on the front of the stage, playin' acoustic, suddenly stands up, throws the guitar in the air, it hits the stage, explodes, all hell breaks loose...

The Doobie Brothers - right before the show, roadies throw out thousands of little soap-bubble bottles, called 'Doobie Bubbles', the whole coliseum lights up with a million floating reflectors...

The weekend of the Deep Purple concert, I stayed at a friend's dorm room - I partied too hard, had to go to the emergency room for a while - while we were there, he ripped off a bottle of 12% Novacaine, we cured some weed with it - I don't remember the concert...

Saw Roy Clark (of 'Hee-Haw' fame) with the Boston Pops do a classical gig - incredible, technical stuff...

Kiss in Providence, RI - I actually thought some of the kids there were scared of Gene Simmons - Ace Frehley was so messed up, they had to help him on and off the stage, but man! did he play!

Great rock bar outside Fitchburg, MA, called the Mohawk Club - was there one night, a local group is setting up with sandbags on stage - we say 'wth'? The pure volume and quality of sound was awesome - the name 'Boston' was forever engraved...

Alice Cooper, The James Gang, The Fabulous Rhinestones at Rockingham Motor Speedway - two days so hot, we were trading joints for beer...

Judas Priest in Augusta GA - Halford on his hawg...was in Augusta for a couple of years, so I hung out at The Whipping Post as much as possible - no headliners, but a lot of great local talent...

Took my wife to see Rod Stewart - enough said...

George Thorogood and the (Delaware) Destroyers - small, sweaty place, had a blast...

The Police, Stevie Ray V, Bryan Adams at Aloha Stadium...

America and Livingston Taylor at The Shell Ampitheatre, sittin' on the grass with good wine...

Bar hopping on Oahu's North Shore, in a little place with a live band, and who strolls in but Warren Zevon, asks if he can sit in - two solid hours of a master storyteller, singin' from the heart...

    Ah, the good old days...

    :drink

Looks like you missed (or forgot?) Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, and Pink Floyd.

Some other of my favorite concerts were Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, YES, Queen, and Vanilla Fudge.

That was all, of course, a very long time ago. Recent concerts: Ryuichi Sakamoto, Tina Turner, Elton John.

I've seen most of them, but certainly not in their prime. I don't count seeing Yes in 1999 as a win, for instance. LOL

Jethro Tull was still amazing in 1998, though. :)

I have fond memories of a Styx concert in Indianapolis in the late 70's - with Cheap Tricks as the opening band.

    "Come Sail Away".. indeed.

Will you hate me less if I tell you that I've also seen Tiny Tim live (at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970)?

augiedoggie The Canadian Loon - LocoAugie (R.I.P. 2012)

Hmm, scraping my brain cells off the floor, :innocent:-D

Jimi Hendrix in summer of '68
Frank Zappa and the Mothers in '69 which I didn't really want to go to as the last I heard of their stuff it was the stupid crap. Lo and behold, they had switched modes and started playing stuff from their as yet unreleased 'Hot Rats' album which just blew me away!:eek:cool:guitar

I was supposed to get tickets for the Stones in '70, started waiting inline the night before on a November night and woefully underdressed for the ordeal so after a couple of hours I told my buddies 'Screw this man, I don't want to freeze to death!' Walked to the closest jazz bar and the place was empty but Weather Report was playing and we sat through all 3 sets! Jazz/fusion.http://bestsmileys.com/music1/3.gifThe rest is history, I found my real love of music that night!:)

The last rock concert was Pink Flloyd and (as I call it) their inflatable pig tour as I can't remember. Pretty ho hum with 80K fans screaming around me.

The rest is all jazz/blues. I'll post the blues guys later.
