Laptop Safe Mode monitor issue

I have a question for the experts. I have an alienware m9750 laptop and after my display broke ive been using an external monitor. Recently I had some software issues and did the "msconfig" method to set my pc to automaically boot in safe mode. Before I rebooted my anti-virus fixed my issues. Problem is i forgot to set my boot options back to normal and cut the pc off. Now when I power on i dont get any display on my external moniter since its in safe mode and tries to use the laptop display. I dont know how to fix this but need to urgently since my pc had my job information in it.

P.S ive tried the FN keys to switch between moniters no luck.

 

If you have a windows disc you could run a system restore through the recovery console, and roll back to your old settings. What OS are you using?

 

im using vista home premium but i dont have restore disks

 

Can you not just restart the computer, hit f8 repeatedly and then choose normal startup?

 

I was going to suggest that too.... but I tried it and the normal startup option in the advanced option menu will only start the computer as it is configured to start. i.e. if msconfig has it set to boot in safe mode, the the normal startup option will be safe mode (even though you can alternately select safe mode above...). Not sure if that made sense the way I explained it.... Good suggestion though motc7.
