Guns and Crayons

Well, and engraved stuff. I ran across this little trick on another website. Works pretty well for coloring engraved stuff. Just fill in the engraved part with crayon wax, scrape the excess off the rest of the item, and you are done (Hoppe's #9 works well). Can be removed with a stiff nylon brush if you don't like it.

Some people use a toothpick and model paint, but my patience level is not high enough for that. :-D My flash kinda washed some of it, but the SAFE part is white, and the FIRE part is red on the safety selector.

We were using that little "trick" in the early '70s in the service.
Wasn't needed because you can tell which direction it was pointed in, but it looked cool.

 

I agree, not needed, but looks nice. Am thinking about getting a face engraved where the 'fun' setting would be...

I just came up with a great idea. The next time me and my friend go to the range, I will offer to 'clean' his AR for him. Lots of fun could be done on his rifle with a pink Crayon. :-D

 

Get him laughed right off the range for the "sissy"rifle?

 

Yep. :-D Probably motivate him to learn to clean his guns... :-D
