I'm sure many of you have seen the commercial for www.mypcclean.com.
I'm wondering how well this software/website works. Is it safe to use? Reason i'm asking is my pc is running slow. apart from that it takes a while for the pages to load, it freezes alot and i'd like to fix this problem so that it doesnt happen anymore or it happens alot less. If anyone has used this program, please let me know or maybe you guys can recommend some other alternative to my pc problem. Thanks.

In my experience there is not a better program than the freeware http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
There are countless scanners and cleaners out there for sale - in my opinion television commercials are for folks who don't know any better. My opinion only.

I'm going to have to agree with sevenismagic on this one. Why waste your money on that crap when everything you need to speed up your PC you can get right here at MGs for FREE? Whether it be disk utilities, anti-virus programs, malware removal, etc. Don't waste your money on TV commercials when you can do it yourself. There is a step-by-step guide here at MGs that will help you through the procedures. I'll find that guide and post a link to it! Sorry, it's been awhile since I've been here and I got to find it again:-o If you ever need help with the guide, just post your problem and you'll get the help you need. Be right back, I gotta go find that guide!!

I agree with Stubby. I suggest try the malware section and see if the computer is slow/not working right due to something in it that you cant see. If the computer is clean and still having issues after the malware section then I suggest coming back into the software section and ask questions. Maybe your computer specs are low and need to add some to it.

These types of internet sites that advertise to clean and speed up your computer are usually a scam in that they will report all kinds of things wrong with your system and by scaring you, get you to buy it. Their program is scareware.....it will report problems that don't exist on your system. ;)

I can only tell you what I know, my uncle got it after seeing it on TV. He is not a computer expert and liked that they had a 24/7 computer help line. He doesn't know if it sped up his computer, but he says he is happy with it. He told me it found more than 100 problems, and it fixed them.

He called there help line when a Windows update (he thinks) did something to his computer, and he called them. They sold him a service package, and they took care of the problem and he told me that his computer works fine and he is happy.

So, it seems mycleanpc works for people who are not computer savey, and like and are willing to pay to have a computer expert at the other end of the phone.

For people who are technically savvy and like computers, this would seem like a waste.

I think the following supports the call center aspect of their products:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdOvrg2CQ0k

Press Release talks about their 225 person computer help center in Los Angeles:

    http://www.cyberdefendercorp.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=498727

Also, for info on the maker Cyberdefender, then you can find many reference links in the middle of this article:

    http://pusz4frog.wordpress.com/2010/09/21/cyberdefender-releases-their-edc-3-0-cyberdefender-antivirus-software-with-earlynetwork-technology-that-offers-customers-zero-day-gap-updates/

It seems their product is a real product, just that it is targets to a narrow segment of the market - people who don't know much about computers, and are willing to pay to have a call center to help them with their computers.

No offense randommayham but IMO your family and who ever you know should not be using that cyberdefender or the others in this thread. Just because you get a call or see something on tv or internet does not make it true. They are just tring to get some money. You think just cause you see things are true. What about the fake doctors down south in america that had all the paperworks, build huge buildings to work in and got away with it for many years. Yet they never were a real doctor nor had the right to do any of it. And they are in prison. Google search cyberdefender scam and see a lot of people talking about them being the owner of cleanpc and the other site. Also many people claiming cyberdefender has billed them for big amount of money or hasn't given them there subscription for the time they paid for. Also they claim that the errors are constantly the same errors reporting by the item even tho the site "supposely fixed" it. SO they canceled there subscription. If you need any cleaning just do it here. There are not many sites that will offer cleaning service its the computer you have and what is in it. If you need to upgrade RAM(memory) to make it run faster and hold more then do so.

Saw the TV ad for Mycleanpc.com and thought yeah right.

Did some research and ended up here.

registrycleanertechnology.com gave a very complete series of screenshots and info and so I decided to try it.

Had basically the same experience, overall it cleaned some bad things from my system and it seemed (just my subjective opinion) to run a little better then before. Not double, but better. Guess they could have picked a better name.

Is it the greatest thing since sliced bread? No.

Do I feel it was worth the money? Yes.

I had not seen that site before. It does seem to show all the screen shots.

For far, nothing bad has happened since installing www.mycleanpc.com

It just seems to work in the background.

This is the only thing I found disturbing. The program might run fantastically, keep you locked up and tidy, but for how long after?

    Retention of Information

CyberDefender.com will keep personal information of its users for as long as they are registered subscribers or users of our products, and for a reasonable time thereafter. What do they consider "reasonable," and what happens with your information after you're no longer a customer. I always worry about these things.
