Hope you enjoy your new baby man! Looks like you have a pair of 9800GT's along in there too. A beast of a folding machine there. :cool:wine

Hopefully it's cooling off enough for lbmest to get his i7 rockin' pretty soon too. It'll be a good boost for MG's as it's fallen to 117th place over the summer. I almost felt bad enough that I was going to switch one of my 9800GT's over here.:) WTF guys!:major

Thanks augiedoggy, Yeah with the -bigadv wu and oc'd to 3.6 in windows it pumps out pretty good. The vid card is a 285gtx which gets about 9k ppd while the i7 gets about 25k ppd. Im happy to be folding for team major geeks, this has been one of my favourite websites for years.
    Go F@H Team Major Geeks!!!

as a Majorgeeks folder I appreciate your dedication to our team as Majorgeeks.com has and will be one of my all time fav sites. :cool
Did you know majorgeeks.com used to go by the name tweakfiles? :major
I visited that site non stop and just found this out though it seems another company bought the rights to that url as posted is the last working date for tweakfiles from the way back machine.

    fold on

Yeah I remember when it was tweak files, I think that was around 2003 or 2004. Im sure glad majorgeeks has taken over, keeping all of the great files in one place. We got to get some more people folding, im sure there are more i7's out there.

I wish and do not understand why more geeks or non geeks are not on board?
The forums here are awesome, plus a plethora of files to download.
I guess the folding bug is not that contagious here?

Ya, it's like pulling teeth!:-D I've seen people having to sell off their farms at a big loss just to pay bills or can't afford the electricity in these tough times. I mean some were paying $300/mth!:eek I'm lucky as our electricity is relatively cheap. Now, I would fold here except for the fact that I'm on staff where I fold so that would be awkward, besides I'd have to start from the bottom again scrapping 11M+ pts.;)

I must be doing it wrong, I have a GTX480 and an i7 running on all 8 cores at 100% but only get around 22k ppd.
I am not running bigadv but that should not make such a big difference.

Are you folding the 67xx? They are around 10K PPD for me on a 3.8GHz i7 compared to 16 to 22K PPD for the -bigadv. Those 67XX are just plain nasty.:boxing but I fold them when there's no bigadv available. Also remember that you are not folding 24/7 and when you extend the work over several days then the PPD falls.

I think you could get more points then that, do you have your i7 oc'd? Bigadv makes a pretty big difference in points. my hfm monitor shows i get anywhere between 20 to 27 ppd on just my i7 alone depending on the wu. then the 9k for the vid. I can get the info for you if you need some help getting bigadv up and running.

Maybe we could find a way to entice more geeks to fold for us. Any ideas?:)

Yes sir that is a mighty fine set up. (And look out I'm cranking back up again.;))

What are your shaders at on that card? I use EVGA Precision to up the shaders on mine.

This is such an eclectic bunch around here, it's going to be hard to gather more folders unless the bug hits them in the butt. If we could get some of the newer machines folding, especially the GPU folding, points would rack up fast compared to some of the older style single CPU crunchers.

'bout time lmbest! (been wondering) :-D
as to the choice wordage used to portray us folders here on the majorgeeks.com team, thumbs up

Between work stuff and home crap and electric bill jumping $100/month, had to give it a rest. The AC is finally getting a rest now, so I can crank it back to full time with all 3 clients. Now I need to start upgrading parts and overclocking a little bit more since some people, (I won't mention any names but he lives north of the border;)) seem to have an open wallet for upgrades.

    You like eclectic?:-D
That was my 26 cent word for the day.:p

Yeah i run the evga precision tuner too. The stock shader clocks are 1512, I tried oc'ing everything on it and it would give me another 1000 ppd, but it was pushing it. Ill just leave it stock, I dont want to fry it. Good to see you ramping up lbmest, we got to bump up our MG ranks, maybe we can make it into the top 100 if we get some more folders.

Just up your shaders number. Forget the core and memory, they just produce heat with no actual production gain.
I've got two EVGA GTX 260-216 Superclocked with shaders at 1620. Stock shaders are 1350. With fan at 65% temps are in the mid 60s C. Both have been going the best part of a year.

We were in the top 100 a while back but when the GPU folding took hold, we started losing spots. If we could get some GPU folders going, that would help immensely but the majority of members are here for problem solving only plus there are a lot of lurkers in the forums and front pages that only come for the software.
Even getting some of the inactive folders to get back in the game would help. We are running about 5% active to inactive when it stood at a 10% ratio for a long time.

You could also use eVGA's OC Scanner to tweak some voltages but I ain't touching a thing on my expensive cards, it's just not worth the points nor the extra heat.

HEY! :p Actually the i7 was in the works for 8 mths. before I bought it.;) Besides, the 470 was a gift and not from my girlfriend either.:p

Next build will probably be an AMD X8 when they come out next year and be done on the cheap this time as this i7 build cost way too much. Also, hopefully by this time, Stanford will have the proper clients for ATI GPU's to at least match the nVidias or better, give the faster ATI's their due. :major
