argh!! within the first week at 6th form, my lab partner is THE hottest guy in the class :O AND he has a brain AND a personality :confused i didn't know that was even possible! and most importantly... he is single :)
hmm, and the slight fact that me asked me for my number at the end of the day has made today officially awesome :-D

the only slight hitch is that the teacher made it clear she would not be changing lab partners by request. I guess i've only got one shot at this....any advice?

So if it doesn't work, you're stuck with him for the whole term?

If you're gonna go for it, don't blow it. :-D

Well tell him you have a glue gun and if you dont stick together then he will die from Thermite!!! (the best labby type chat up line I have today.... weirdly I work on a floor of labs in the hospital/uni I work in.. but have nursey chatup lines down but techs not so much, go figure)

Ahhhhh just ask him to go for a coffee as its best option and go from there, he did ask you for your number so thats a PLUS, but good luck.

From a guys point of view.
DON'T go overboard and seem too eager. Play a bit hard to get.
If going for coffee, as suggested, just some idle conversation to loosen up.
Ask about plans for your project first.
But for GODS sake, do not throw yourself at him.
    To me, definite turn-off.

Well he asked for your number.. that is a start :) unless he's one of those confusing males that are like "I only asked for your number don't misinterpret me" rolleyes

I can't say I can offer much advice considering the train wreck that my "date" was LOL but what I DO know is guys like to be the chasor not the chasee.. it gives them a sense of manly accomplishment :-D (I have been told this by many a guyfriend, they say it's a turn off if a woman is too forward/aggressive).

I wish you the best of luck! There are good guys out there and hopefully he will turn out to be one! :)

I think it a fallacy that men don't like semi-aggressive woman. Heck, it's 2010 people and woman have equal rights so they can chase us men for a change!! ;)

Well, I was told by several GUYS that they don't like it.. so don't think it's safe to call it a fallacy. :p

The guys 16 years old and your a girl! The only way you could screw this up would be if you hid from him or killed him.

It is if we assume said guys are insecure and lacking confidence in themselves. ;) I've heard the opposite from several confident and secure guys. They like being "hunted", for lack of a better word... short-term or long-term, they seem to enjoy thinking that the woman in question is confident and secure enough that she doesn't hesitate to go after what she wants, when she wants it.

Besides, a strong man needs a strong woman, just like a strong woman needs a strong man, if they are going to be happy in their relationship. If they are not equals then inevitably one of them will have to either diminish themselves or become a tyrant, and it doesn't matter how benevolent the dictator in a long-term relationship is, it's still not a good thing.

Trust me on this, boys and guys might think that what they want is an adoring and meek girl that fullfil their every wish. Grown men on the other hand seem to enjoy having their wish denied by being cornered and told "No. Tonight we're going to do things my way..." At least as long as it's equal opportunity cornering that goes both ways. :)

I'm going to shut up now before someone start censoring my posts. LOL

A far more important point here is, if you are decisive and "pushy" as a person, and someone doesn't like that, then chances are that they're not going to like the rest of you either. If you have to pretend to be something you are not, in order for someone else to like you, then that someone else does not deserve you. That's all you need to know and remember.

Start watching CSI or NCIS for tips.

Just weirdly thinking about this more, a few life things pop into my old addled brain,

    1. Working and dating someone, well not always great as what if things go sadly wrong, you're stuck with this person.
    2. If things go great then could your work suffer.

all leads up to abstinence... not a good thing, but I wish you will with your decision runningcart (sounds like an american indian name)
