    Good evening,

I have tried to run everything that you have asked. I have read through every thread regarding this particular problem. I cannot Boot in safe mode via F8 or via msconfig. When i get the safe mode menu up via F8 it will not allow me to move the cursor/bar to the appropriate safe mode. Then it times out and boots up regularly. I cannot open Add/remove programs, I cannot start CC cleaner. Each thing I try to open flashes open for less then one second then dissappears. I also tried task manager and that wouldn't stay open either. I even loaded Malaware Bytes onto a flash drive and tried to run it from that. Same thing happens. Im completely lost here.

    This is my Dad's computer.
Thank you very much for taking the time to help me with this.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Mitch

You did not even tell us what version of Windows you are using.

If you really cannot run anything in safe mode or normal mode then try one of the below CDs. Obviously you will need to use another PC inorder to make one of these CDs.
If one of the above cleans any malware from the PC then reboot normally and see if you can now run the cleaning procedure.

    Okay...

I ran Rkill.exe, then AVPFind.bat, then ExeHelper, then SuperAntispyware.
    Rebooted
Virus still there (popups saying, "serurity warning"
    Ran Rkill.exe again
Began cleaning procedures: Ran CCCleaner, All Hidden files viewable, msconfig at Normal startup, removed Logitech Desktop Manager
Installed and ran Defogger. Disable completed
    Rebooted
    Virus still there
Used my Cisco CD to connect to internet. Lost all desktop icons. Hard Rebooted
Ran Rkill.exe several times till it took and worked.
    Updated and ran Malwarebytes
Cleaned infected files and saved log.
    Rebooted to complete cleaning
Virus popups are gone but a popup came up with, “Error loading C:\windows\wscrincr.dll”
Could not run Combo Fix because I cannot get online. Skipped.
    Ran RootRepeal and saved log
Tried to run MGtools. But it would not give me a zip file. Only 2 log files show up in the root folder
I am attaching all my logs.
Thank you again for your help.

You do not have to have an internet connection to run the scan part. That is just needed to get the Recovery Console installed.

Did you get any error messages?

You are way out of date with your version of SUPERAntiSpyware.
    • Please uninstall your current version (this is necessary).
    • Then download this SUPERAntiSpyware
    • Install this new version. It may tell you that you need to reboot to complete the installation. You must reboot at this time.
    • After the reboot, run SUPERAntiSpyware and immediately click the Check for Updates button to get more updates for the database.
    • Now run a new full scan of your system. And attach this new log.

Also your log from Malwarebytes shows that you Took No Action. Did you fix what it found? You need to check again. You must fix things before you save the log.

Delete the below folder if it exists:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Floyd Wise\Local Settings\Application Data\npmugqsuo

If you still cannot run MGtools, let's do the below to debug.

Please click Start, Run, and enter cmd and click OK. This will open a command prompt window. Enter the below commands at the command prompt each followed by the enter key. The bold black are commands. The purple is merely informational.

cd \MGtools <-- this changes to the MGtools folder and the prompt should change to C:\MGtools>
GetRunKey <-- this will try to run all one scan from MGtools. Tell me what error messages, if any, you see.
ShowNew <-- this will try to run all another scan from MGtools. Tell me what error messages, if any, you see.

    Downloaded mgtools

Down loaded Combfix & ran. Everything ran properly

    You're welcome.

You were supposed to download and then run MGtools tools. You ran it from the browser connection as shown in your logs by the below:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Floyd Wise\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\D0XO4W0L\MGtools[1].exe

In the future, please make sure you download to your PC as requested.

Why are you running this PC with no protection installed?

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://ms101.mysearch.com/sa/srchlft.html
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:6092
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {DBC80044-A445-435b-BC74-9C25C1C588A9} - (no file)
    O16 - DPF: {E06E2E99-0AA1-11D4-ABA6-0060082AA75C} -

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it has expired or need to be updated to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Now delete all files and subfolders in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Floyd Wise\Local Settings\Temp

Now run Ccleaner. Only use the Run Cleaner button. Do not run anything else on any other forms.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Good evening,

Sorry for not Running MGtools correctly. I am helping my dad and I have to explain everything over the phone. He is not very computer literate and lives over 2 hours away.

There was no AV installed because i thought he had installed the free version that came with his new AT&T Uverse account. However, he had not installed it.

We ran C:\MGtools\analyse.exe and were able to remove 3 of the 4 items you had listed. He could not find the following:
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://ms101.mysearch.com/sa/srchlft.html

We copied the KillAll Script and ran it over ComboFix.exe. ComboFix updated and completed a scan. Log is attached

There was nothing in this folder - C:\WINDOWS\Temp
Only one item in this folder (we deleted it) - C:\Documents and Settings\Floyd Wise\Local Settings\Temp

    Then we ran C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat

The computer is running much better and is no longer showing signs of the Security suite virus.

Should I install AVG now or install McFee that comes with his Uverse account?

Thank you again for the help. It is wonderful to know that there are people out there like you. You have always been very helpful and it is much appreciated.

    Mitch and Floyd

You're welcome. Your logs are clean. You can use the free McAfee if you wish. Just make sure you keep it updated.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
