That game is only supported up to WinXP. Try right-clicking on the installer (usually setup.exe) and go to Properties. On the Compatibility tab, set it to run in Compatibility mode for XP SP2 and check the box to Run as Administrator. Try installing again.

How many disks does it need to install from? You may need to repeat the right-click trick with every one of them...

    Yikes! :eek

When you get to the point where it asks to switch disks, just alt-tab out of the installer, open a file explorer window, and navigate to the next CD so you can right-click and stuff there. If the installer doesn't let you alt-tab (sometimes that crashes them) let me know, and we'll get creative.

    EDIT:
Just saw your second post. Set it back to compatibility mode for Windows 2000 and see if that changes anything. Also double-check you have DirectX 9 installed, since Vista comes with 10, and Driv3r probably can't use that.

Its failing on data2 so its not even making it to data3 on the first disk. I think its the disk. there is not a mark on it but it has to be heck i have a problem with Flight sim 2002 just like im having with driv3r I think its bad disks so i guess i would be screwed.

Bad disks in two games at once? Are you abusive to your poor disks? :p

Do you have access to an XP system? If they work there, that rules out the disks.

All my disk stay in one zip up case and almost all have no marks. But see i ran into the same problem before with both games and gave up trying to solve it. But i want to find out why these two games have done this.

If there are no marks, I doubt the disks are bad... they might be poorly coded though. Driv3r especially was originally a PS2 game, and may have been ported without being properly optimized. (Actually, knowing Atari, that's very likely.) In that case, they may not work on any OS except the one they were made for. :(

Google came up blank, aside from multiple torrent sites, something I haven't seen for game problems before.

Are you installing with or without security software running? If with, turn all of them off. Including Defender and the Vista firewall. (May want to disconnect from internet first...)

I used to keep a large amount of discs in a cd case, and recently pulled my old games book out to find most of the cds wouldn't play or had scratches, im kinda wondering if cd books aren't the best place to store cds, no real proof that was the cause but for what its worth.

This is a shot in the dark but I figure it may prompt an idea from someone, the other day I went to install Medal Of Honor Airborn, it crashed halfway through install several times until I eventually found that it was hitting the PhysX install and getting confused because it was trying to install an older version. The only work around was to uninstall my physx drivers and let it run the older physx driver install, it worked fine, then I updated my drivers once done.
I know this is a different problem but it may be possible that a driver age conflict is happening, I have seen similar errors before.
Like I said, a shot in the dark but worth mentioning.

I found small pits in the disk like hair size holes in the disks label side.

But that's not the side it's reading.... is the other side okay? Have you had a chance to test the disks in a different computer?

Yes and i tried just coping the disk to the HDD and it fails on data2. I tried cleaning. I have disks in alot worst shape that you think it wouldn't read but it does. I just think its a cheap disk that company used

The problem is some of the inks/glues used to make the design on one side of the CD can sometimes be slightly corrosive to the CD recorded media over a period of time, say 3-5 years.

I went another route to get it installed.
