I've gone through the read me first thread already, but hesitated to start combo fix as it says to wait to do so unless instructed by a helper.

My main problem is both of my internet browsers' (IE & Mozilla Firefox) homepages are stuck on http://iniciorapido.info/ and I cannot change it back, it also causes a pop up window each time I start it. And yes I've done the simple change and "apply & ok" to the homepage option.

I've attached a hijack this log / malware bytes log / and SAS log.

Sorry if I shouldn't have posted this rolleyes

    Welcome to Major Geeks!
That is what the READ & RUN ME already asked you to do. ;)

You need to finish the rest and attach the logs from running the below.
    • ComboFix
    • RootRepeal
    • MGtools

Ah, I see. Apologies. Requested logs now attached.

Let me ask a question first. Are you sure that you are not blocking changes to your home page with AVG or something else??

I see you have signs of StopZilla and CounterSpy in your logs. Did you have these installed and now have uninstalled them? The did not remove everything. We can remove them if you want in my next fix. I just need to wait for your answer. In the meantime, do the below.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://iniciorapido.info
    O1 - Hosts: ::1 localhost
    O1 - Hosts: 193.169.12.50 win-guard2009.com
    O1 - Hosts: 193.169.12.50 www.win-guard2009.com

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Please download HostsXpert and then follow the below steps.
    • Unzip HostsXpert.zip
    • It will create a folder named HostsXpert in whatever folder you extract it to.
    • Run HostsXpert.exe by double clicking on it.
    • Click the Make Writeable? button. (if you only see a Make Read-Only selection, it is already writeable so skip this button).
    • Click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
    • Click the X to exit the program

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip

Things I have done thanks to the internet :

    1. typed "about:config" into my firefox url bar. Then typed "keyword.url", right clicked on the status area and clicked reset.

    2. right clicked on the blank area of http://iniciorapido.info/ and clicked "view page info" and blocked cookies, removed all cookies.

Anddd.. I don't have the slightest clue how to change home page settings with AVG =P

Also, yes I have had the StopZilla unwillingly installed. I wanted to install it at first, but the process was taking FOREVER, and it wouldn't let me close the "update" / installation. After various clicks and trying to end the task/process tree in task mgr,I just let it finish then proceeded to my control panel to delete it.

I did both steps you've instructed and attached a MGlogs zip.

Oh yeah another thing you should know haha, even before doing the previous 2 steps. I can successfully go into my firefox options and change the homepage now. Even after closing the browser and restarting it (as before I would change the homepage, close the browswer, start it up and the homepage would still go back to that bogus site). Something I also noticed though, when I click "set to default" on the general tab (homepage section), it still goes back to that site. Should I be concerned? I'd also like to fully get rid of stopzilla & counterspy if I haven't already...

I cannot tell from your last message whether you are still having a problem or not. The stuck home page appears to have been removed from Internet Explorer based on your logs.

Let's cleanup those leftovers and fix a bunch of locked registry keys which should not be locked.

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it has expired or need to be updated to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it. Be sure to scroll all the way thru to the bottom.:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    DirLook::
    C:\Documents and Settings\Cindy\Local Settings\Application Data\dcnpiy
    C:\Documents and Settings\Cindy\Local Settings\Application Data\wjlluj

    Folder::
    C:\Documents and Settings\Cindy\Local Settings\Application Data\ESET
    c:\documents and settings\Cindy\Local Settings\Application Data\Sunbelt Software
    c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\STOPzilla!
    c:\program files\Common Files\iS3

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Sorry about that, I'm horrible at explaining things. :confused

    I'll try again:

I can now successfully change my browsers homepages. The only thing concerning me is this... I took a screenshot to make it somewhat easier on me haha.

    http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/808/50062175.jpg

On firefox, when I click restore to default (I didn't click it in this pic) it links to that bogus site, not my original homepage, which was the firefox google page. Not sure if I should be concerned or not. Everything works fine, just wondering if that's a problem.

With internet explorer, the homepage has been restored to it's original (MSN) without me adjusting the options. So that's fine.

Anywho, I did as instructed again and attached both logs. Thank you for your patience.

    Delete the below two folders:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Cindy\Local Settings\Application Data\dcnpiy
    C:\Documents and Settings\Cindy\Local Settings\Application Data\wjlluj

Your logs are clean other than those.

Somehow it changed a default setting of FireFox. You would need to use Firefox's option to restore things to default or it could be necessary to uninstall Firefox and then delete left over folders. Then reinstall to clean this up.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
