Hi everyone, I've been browsing around the web and found this forum. I looked around some threads and looks like this has happened to some people before. This happened just a day ago all of a sudden

Basically the problems I'm having suddenly are:
1.) TrayApp popping up during startup
2.) Whenever I open a new windows (I.E, Firefox), windows installer keeps popping up prompting me to insert windows xp cd
3.) AVG keeps alerting of virus (Zbot.E), I keep removing it and it keeps on coming back
4.) Some of my programs stopped running (Winzip, media players, etc)
5.) Computer very slow in general

I've followed the READ & RUN me first and the problems i encountered are:
1.) SUPERantispyware freezes everytime when it nears completion
    2.) Rootrepeal doesnt work

I've attached as much as possible the other components that will hopefully help you help me resolve this issue. Thanks in advance

Please tell me exactly what AVG is complaining about.

Use windows explorer to find and delete:
    c:\windows\system32\msmq
    c:\program files\win
    c:\program files\tmp
    c:\program files\windows

Now do an online eSet scan. If it finds anything, run it again. Attach the logs when you are done. I would like to see the first three logs, unless it doesn't find anything.

Thanks for helping me out. I deleted the files like you told me to. AVG resident shield kept popping up win32/Zbot.E, but that has stopped ever since i ran eSet and the other programs under the READ & RUN topic. However, AVG resident shield now pops up this window telling me to "add the exception" a few of the C:\System Volume Information\... files. If it helps, when I scan with eSet, the C:\System Volume Information\... files takes the longest to scan

Anyways here is the eSet logs. I ran it once and something i noticed was the trojan Ramnit (which i see from other recent topics). It removed it along with some other viruses and I ran it the 2nd time and it came up with nothing.

I realized my mouse scrolling is now laggier in addition to my original problems. Hope these information helps

All of the system restore files will be removed when you toggle system restore. That is the only way to remove them.

Other than that, what malware issues are you still having, if any?

I have ran AVG and Superantispyware and they found nothing now. The question I have is will the virus come back? Or am I clean now? The issues I'm still having are:
1.) windows installer for windows xp with frontpage keeps popping up any time i open any thing
2.) some of my programs still doesn't work (media player etc)

And if you don't mind, can you tell me how to do system restore? And if i do that, is it the same as reformatting, in that i lose all my files? (songs, word docs etc.) Thanks once again

Your logs were clean other than the system restore items.

That is a topic for the software forum.
The malware could have compromised some programs so you may need to uninstall and then re-install them.
You can if you want do a system restore, only it may take you back to a point where you still have malware. Since you are now clean, why would you want to risk that? And reformating would wipe out everything on your computer whereas a restore will only wipe out what you have done since that restore date.

Questions1 and 2 should be addressed in the software forum.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.We recommend them for doing backup scans when you suspect a malware infection.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
