Sorry to those that are too old to do this, I'm not ageist....much :p

My dissertation is on the subject of music industry and piracy etc, anyway to summarise I've done a survey and if you fall in the age range then please could you spare 2 minutes and help me out?

    Cheers!

    Oh great cheers McA :(

So only 18-25yr olds are music pirates? do you have data on that? only asking as while I dont have data to hand it was mentioned at a talk last year I was at that a fair proportion of music and film pirates are in the 20-40 group. As older users have read this new technology thingy gives them music and films free with a thing called... mmmm my old brain forgets at times (oldtimers disease) ahhhhhhh pear2pear or somesuch software ;)

Anywho good luck with your dissertation Jon,

Nope, not at all. In fact, I bet pirates range from 6-60!

It's just I wanted to narrow down my target audience to today's current 'student age' :)

Neat and you'll do fine with Excel ;)

I tend for work to use Access, but then export to Excel as its graphing capabilities are better.

Is someone who downloads illegal music even a pirate? The only people I consider pirates are people who are involved in the act of pirating on a commercial scale for financial gain.

Well that's what it has always meant in the past,I feel the music industry has tried to use the word to label end listeners who copyright infringe.

Anyway good luck with the survey Mc.

I did the survey. I'm curious as to why you asked if the various music industry's had gains or losses, but didn't specifically link them to piracy? After all, Sony's DRM might have caused it to lose money because people didn't want to be treated as pirates, that weren't already.

I also hope you remember the vastly negative impact made on the book industry by piracy. And how it's caused all the movie studios to go out of business.
