So this may be too sappy for some of you but LOL:

So, the last couple of weeks have been somewhat crappy. For one thing I'm another year older which really sucks. Then there's been other things.

Anyway, so today there were two moments that occurred. Just seconds really, that just made me smile.

Both had to do with Autumn and the leaves falling down.

The first was when I was out playing golf and no matter how much I wanted to finally shoot in the 80s for the first time in a number of years, it just wasn't happening. I'm on the 17th green and as I'm about ready to Putt, the leaves that had fallen were just blowing straight across the green. I made my putt anyway.:-D

The second was when I was driving on the dreary highway on the way to pick up the oldest and I come around the bend and there was literally a shower of leaves in one spot with the sun shining through that I drove through. I had to smile.

Does anyone have these times when things aren't great, but something happens for a second and you just can't help yourself...it just makes you happy?

Okay...everyone better not ignore this because it's a weird thought! :-D;)

    Ahhh...I just felt like sharing.

As I said somewhere before, you are not getting older, just closer to getting Medicare. LOL.

Plus, the older you get, the more likely you will be able to golf your age!!

As to those "special moments", ask any teenager and I'm sure they will hook you up!! roflmao

Ahhhh...the finer things in life! LOL

I prefer to think of leaves blowing in the wind then me in my 90s trying to still get around the golf course. roflmao

    My daughter's a teen.:cry

Just like a fine wine, well aged!!

Be thankful that you are able to spend time playing golf!! A good course is a hike through a wonderful display of nature.

Bet she knows someone!! Sad state of affairs, but it is almost mainstream these days.

So all in all, those little things that are bothering you are just pimples on Shrek's butt!! You have far more to be happy about than those small nuisances. ;)

  8. Caliban

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

And just think about it: the leaves probably enjoyed your smiles, too.

    Awww...

    (thanks:))

    Awww...that is very sweet.:)

    Very true, Bob!

So this was not supposed to be a cheer up Laura by telling her she's really not that old thread.:-D

I was just wondering if you all had these weird moments.;)

Nah I don't really anymore.Usually I get a wiff of a smell and it takes me back to a happier time in childhood, wet leaves is a good one reminds of the morning walks me and my dad used to go on or coincidentally playing golf on a local field or going golf ball hunting on a local course.

Both my sons are in their 20's, and my granddaughter just turned three . . . sigh. Big wheel keeps spinning around . . . nothing for it. :(

This is not exactly what you mean, but close and more in line with Rikky's post and the idea of aging in general - So . . . Just a few months ago I was walking by a tobacco shop in a mall and caught a wiff of pipe smoke. I can't name the scent, but it reminded me of a great (maybe great great) uncle that used to sit on the front porch of my parent's house and feed the squirrels. They were so used to him that they would come right out of the trees and climb onto his lap and take food right out of his hand. Once in a while he would let me sit next to him on the bench, and if I would sit really still, the squirrels would still come up and get food, right beside me. Thrilling for a five year old!

I remember once he fell coming into the house, and a station wagon came and took him away. He never came back, and I was told he had passed away. I learned much later in life he had bone cancer, and spent his remaining time at my parents house, with mom taking care of him.

The sad part is beside the point - I was in a bad mood that day at the mall, and the memory of my uncle, sitting there smoking his pipe and feeding the squirrels, made me smile and forget about whatever it was that had me down.
I hadn't thought of that for years and years.

So you don't have any moments that make you happy, Rik. I can't believe that.

That guy in the video has the right idea.:)

That's exactly what I am talking about, Spad. Thanks for sharing.:)

    I wouldn't say that exactly,but nothing like you,nothing like when I was a kid.

I can't remember the last time I took a deep breath and thought what a great day I'd just had, everything feels old, done.

I think maybe I'm at that time in life when toys and my own company isn't enough anymore, maybe I need a wife and some kids to live my life through.:-D

Or... you could get yourself a copy of the Sims 3, at least that way when they annoy you, you can build a little room, put them in the room and delete the door , then watch as they just walk in circles and stamp their feet, then check back once in a while and say "Have you learnt your lesson yet?" :-D

Of course if you actually ask this question then maybe you need a life :confused

As for happy moments, through all the BS life constantly throws, I still treasure every moment with my family which in turn often gives me that feeling of "Life's good today" ..... then I get a phone call from someone telling me I owe them money lol

Well if you check all corners it's possible you will find small health packs just lying around, or you could use Console commands and lock your health bar making it static ;)

Would it help if I started one of my nonsense threads to do with science, you always seemed to enjoy proving me wrong :-D

Haha I feel better already:-D Errmm? Yeah I did enjoy them I guess:) Your not an egotistical jerk, you actually listened to what I typed and that's rare on the internet :-D

Start one! What have we not done? There must be something your wondering about, not that I'll have the answers...

EDIT I've been wondering about the number 2 recently and whether it has some kind of cosmic significance, everything seems to need "2 OF" to work or flourish in the universe.

1)Hitting it pure, long and true.
2)Sucking it back 10 feet, to the hole with a wedge or nine iron.
    3)Making a putt :-D

4)A whiff of good food cooking.
5)The smell of rain hitting parched hot soil.
6)When my St.Bernies, wake me up by licking my face:-D

Last but the best moment is seeing the sheer happiness on my daughters face, after I'm back from an extended work tour.

    Cheers..

I can relate with the crappy times, you've seen my last couple of threads :-D

I can say I've had these. Usually certain smells or even just a word someone might say will trigger the memory of someone using that same word in a sentence that may have made me smile in the past. (I don't know if I explained that to make sense LOL)

For example, every childhood summer was spent at my grandmom's place. She lived in a huge apartment complex and every morning I would awake to the smell of freshly cut grass. Because of all the good, happy times I've had at my grandmom's, now everytime I smell freshly cut grass it always takes me back to those times, and I smile :)

Happiness and insanity all in one.:-D

The few times 1, 2 and 3 happen are what keep me going back out, sikvik! LOL

My boxer, Oscar, makes me smile just to look at him. Talk about complete and total love...as long as you feed them, they will love you as much as you can imagine.

    You are a sick man:p

    Awesome example dy! :) Thanks.
