I don't think she'd be the first old lady to be thinking aloud or talking to one's self. That old hearing aid, if that's what it was, doesn't need any satellite. Anyway, more plausible than a time traveller in drag, i.m.o. Could have had an itchy ear with a purse or some such in her hand.

I've see stuff like this before from sci-fi 'believers', like a lady supposedly using a Star Trek type of communicator. Either that, or she was just using a face powder compact, I dunno.rolleyes

She's holding her hand up to block the sunlight,or she's about to pull her hat down as the shadow from the hat is right on her eye line. But she stalled, probably because she's nervous and on camera.

Either that or most definitely hard proof of time travel, finally the smoking gun!

She is talking, on something. That is not someone putting their hand up to block the sun. Actually the one link that Buck_nekid posted is a much better video.

My daughter's first reaction was 'It's a fake video' (such a 21st century child LOL). I said it's not a video, it's a movie. She said very matter of factly 'it was added in'. I have to say, I would have to see the actual film movie. What we are seeing are newly remastered dvds. She's right, it could have been easily added in.

She's talking to someone off camera, probably one of the other extra's who is asking her why she's holding her hand up or just saying hello, notice she turns to face someone directly its only then that she starts talking, most probably asking if she's out of shot yet.

Also look at her finger tips they are shape like a claw that's not how you hold a phone you hold a phone with your finger tips not in the palm of your hand. Its as if she's about to reach up and pull the rim of her hat down with her middle and index finger halfway between blocking the light with her hand and reaching up to pull her hat down, look at the shadows on the floor.

She could also be holding a handkerchief which was common practice back then.

Try holding a phone with your middle and index finger fully extended "not you Laura:-D",it looks silly and feels awkward, you have to wrap your fingers around the top of the phone, now get a piece of tissue paper or a handkerchief and hold it with your middle and index finger with your thumb pushing up into it and compare your hand to the womans...

EDIT find it quite fascinating how an action such as holding your hand up to your face is interpreted by society,if no one had ever seen a mobile phone it's just a woman holding her hand up to her face for whatever reason, now people are used to mobile phones, this it would seem is the only logical explanation for why someone would hold their hand up to their face.

EDIT again:-D If 100 years from now people only communicate using brain implants everyone would say she's holding her hand up to her head because her Iphone mark1 implant is causing her pain and she uses it.

Ahh yes, the ever missing context. I wonder what folks would say about us 50 years down the line. 'Did they actually have to hold a gadget in their hands to talk to someone? How quaint! 30 years ago if you saw someone apparently talking by themselves you'd think they are nuts. Now it's our bank managers etc.

Meh, what a tangent I went on eh?:-D

Hey, I'm not saying she's a time traveler. In fact, I believe in some things strange, but this isn't one of them.

It's how she's holding her hand up though. I think she's holding something up to her ear and talking into it..not just when she turns. I will give you that it's not how people normally hold a cell phone to their ear (I actually did it :-D), but if you were hiding it.... Just saying.

It is obvious - for all the reasons stated in earlier posts - that it cannot possibly be a time traveler.

What is it then - the answer came to me while drinking sake with friends at a local izakaya last night: it's an Alien, obviously, talking to the mother ship.

You mean 'just saying' like "Calm down Rikky before you blow a blood vessel its just my opinion":-D

I have to admit it I am a bit of an emotional sceptic, can you tell?:-D

Bah, if she had the technology to travel in time, I think she would at least have a Bluetooth reciever. ;) (Or 'Hands Free')

Actually, I would find it more plausible that she invented the mobile phone 50 years early, than a time machine - but that's just me.
