Mobo - ASUS P6T Deluxe V1 (Replacement for original mobo)
    Drives - 2 LiteOn iHAP322-08 IDE

I don't know if they were recognized right after the mobo replacement which was done recently.:-o
    Troubleshooting steps -
    BIOS Flash to latest
    Chipset drivers to latest
Downloaded firmware upgrading program from LiteOn and no drives found.
Changed IDE cable back to original flat ribbon. (Both cables, original ribbon and round replacement worked previously.)
Drives are not present in BIOS or OS, Win7 Ult 64-bit.

Have not changed any settings in BIOS in SATA configurations, they are at Enhanced IDE for SATA drives. HDDs are recognized correctly.
Have not pulled mobo to check for pin damage at connector for cable.

Any other steps that can be possibly be done before pulling mobo?
    TIA

    Hi, lbmest.

Power to the drives (any LEDs, trays open, etc.)?
Have you tried booting to either of the drives? Probably won't work if they're not being seen in BIOS, but it's worth a shot.

Yeah, power to the drives at boot and during operation. Lights come on at boot as would be normal and button operates both drives during OS use.
Tried booting with Win7 DVD. No Joy and nothing during operation.

Have you tried one at a time? Make sure jumper is set to Master.

That ain't good. I did see on the Lite-On site that the iHAP322 is compatible with 2000/ XP/ Vista - Win 7 is not listed. However, the drive is listed as compatible at the Win 7 Compatibility Center. Weird.

No and will be back shortly.

They worked just fine before mobo replacement. I never paid attention to what driver was installed because they worked from the get go at build out almost 2 years ago.

Crap, still no joy on the individual boots with drives at master setting and on end of IDE cable. Nothing in BIOS and not in OS. Power still good at boot and in OS.

I don't know - maybe if you could get your hands on another optical drive and try it, see if you get the same symptoms.

I'll try that this evening but I doubt that's the problem. Thanks though for the suggestion.

My Express Gate is already disabled at boot and has been for awhile.
I'll try the ACHI setting for my dives to see if that changes anything.
I do have 2 physical drives split into 4 partitions so I'll do some changing there to see if any different combinations will get the burners to show up.
I did have some problems with the controllers at build out but driver updates fixed that. I'll check on that also.
    Thanks for the research sach2.
I'll see what happens this evening.

    That was the issue sach2.
I thought that controller was only for software RAID but as soon as I enabled it in BIOS, the drives showed up.
I had disabled both it and the SAS controllers for speeding up boot time after replacement of mobo. (I did check in device manager while initially trouble shooting and there is an entry for an IDE controller even when the Marvel is disabled in BIOS.)
    Live and learn.:-o

    Thanks for your help.:major
