Wow

loaded WOW some time ago and played succesfully through both trial period and after signing up,. I used it on both my PC and laptop and reached Level 24. Now it will not run on my PC an Advent with Win Vista
A msg reads " Launcher requires permission for WOW registry key 2 succesfully locate the gameplease enable write access to the Registry using and administrative account"
Clicking OK does not work. I am the administrator!
Guidance please !

 

Pretty sure thats some sort of infection, you probably need to reinstall wow from the discs and do all the updates. Or digital download if you didn't get the discs.

 

No, you're not. You have administrative rights in your account, but that's not the same thing. Right-click on the launcher, and pick properties. Go to the compatibility tab an check the box next to "run as administrator". Now try again.

Also try what Colemanguy suggested, since lack of proper permissions when you install a game can lead to all sorts of very bad corruptions.

 

It looks more like an infection after doing some research, i wouldn't do anything until you check your computer for malware in the malware forum.

 

Im just nervous, as all my years with wow i haven't seen anything remotly like that, and i know that there is many attempts to hack and steal peoples accounts. Thats why im leaning towards malware and or a reinstall of the game to fix any possible issues versus manually granting editing the registry or anything like that.

 

I get at least six WoW phishing emails a day to my Hotmail account, and I don't even play the game... it's beyond ridiculous.
