    Thanks for the quick reply.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, 9 gigs of ram.

I get redirected web pages when using a Google search and also random pop-ups that tell me I won a prize. I ran SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Antimalware. The former finds adware cookies that keep reappearing. Sometimes it is 1 adware cookie and sometimes 5. One I always get is a Macromedia cookie with 6CUTM2JY at the end of the description.

Also I get a crash dump to memory when I start my computer in the morning, then it says Start Windows Normally or go into Safe Mode. I can get in to Safe Mode. So I start Windows normally and it boots up but now it says Please Wait, then Welcome and then I get my mouse cursor and then it boots to the desktop.

So both problems are particularly vexing!

Could be a severe malware infection considering the other symptoms.

Head on over to the Read & Run me:

If you face problems going through the guide, make a note of the same.
Continue to the the next step of instructions.

Be thorough, take your time and follow all the instruction.

Start a new thread in Malware Removal:

    Cheers..

    Read & Run Me:
Step1. Microsoft Links -Run IE8 get blank screen. I run Firefox 4.6.12 and Thunderbird for my email.
Step2. I run Microsoft Security Essentials.
Step3. Looked in add/remove programs, did not see any of those. Verified Java version is Version 6 Update 22. Ran CCleaner Windows Tab only, rebooted, crash dump to memory, started Windows normally, got the desktop. I'm the only user.
Step4. Running Windows Ultimate 64 bit. Show hidden files IS checked. Set MSCONFIG to normal startup. Restarted PC, got the desktop.
Step5. Checked list of malware prgrams, removed: Ask Toolbar - only had this one.
Step6. No emulation software. Still giveaway pages randomly pop up.
Step7. Have all the critical Windows updates. I read Cleaning Compromised System.
As I said, I have MS Security Essentials, SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Antimalware (these have found and cleaned my PC as I am running them daily now and have cleaned out the quarantee from both.

My IE8 at this writing does not work.

    Whew!

I ran TDSS for the Google redirect virus from Kaspersky and cured a rootkit. After that my PC would NOT complete to the desktop.

So I reinstalled the OS and am putting everything back on and am OK.

Thanks so much for your quick replies and your great advice. Hope I won't need more help in the future but computers are computers and the WEB is wicked.
