How do you put a picture, preferably a jpg on the desktop in Windows 7??

    Greetings, jbadenius...

Do you mean make a graphics file your desktop background? If so, you can right-click on an empty portion of your current desktop, click 'Personalize', click on 'Desktop Background', and browse for your file...

If you need to resize or otherwise refine your graphic, I always suggest IrfanView - IMO, the best freeware editor/viewer available...

Or you can simply right click the image you want to use as the wallpaper and select "Set as desktop background" from the menu....

Nope, not talking at all about desktop backgrounds. What I'd like to do is to take a jpg from my pictures on my hard drive and size it and put it on the desktop where I want to place it.

There was a calendar program I used to use in XP that allowed this in addition, of course, to put a calendar on the desktop.

By the way, I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I have a problem I wish to report but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do a new post.

How do I tell you my problem??

Just go to the first page in a category like Software and towards the top on the left is a brown button for New Thread. Should be the same for any Category.

sounds like your looking for a widget to show a pic on the desktop (calander) which started on boot.

look for a slide show widget should be somting simmular.

you could also program a simple window with a picture box and place it in the startup folder.

I used to mess around with Rainlendar - don't know if that's what you're talkin' about, but check it out.

In order to display an image on the Windows 7 desktop you will have to install a Gadget called Active Desktop. This is used mainly for displaying web pages to the desktop but you can use it to show images as well. See the last comment on this page. It will work for Gifs but I an not sure if will also work for jpeg's. When I had Windows 98, it was easy to go into an active desktop and paste images and animated gifs to the desktop. This can also be done for XP but I believe it was stopped with Vista for security reasons.

Don't need this any more, I am using the slideshow gadget and that works fine.
Close this out and thank you for your help.
