I was just wondering if you could add program software to a XP disk, for instance Microsoft Security Essentials and Office? it would make my job alot easier.

    Cheers guys.

Yes, you can. You can also add Service Packs and Knowledge Base updates.

It's called 'slipstreaming' - you can find numerous how-to articles, both here at MG and by Googling. A very good tool for slipstreaming is nLite.

Nice one mate, I knew you could do it with updates but I just wondered with programs. Can you only add set up files or can you litrally install the programs to work without any installation?

Now, that I don't know - interesting. That sounds more like imaging, though, which is a whole other ballgame.

You might study the nLite site for any tips, and I'm sure some of the gurus here will pitch in with advice.

Yeah, sounds like you may want to load a system, use sysprep and clone it to the other PCs.
I've never used sysprep personally but all the systems we get imaged from corp are set up like that.

Sysprep? is that a free program or? how do you load a clone? is it just a case as booting it from a disk like a standard format?

Cloning would be easier and faster if going into identical machines.
But I don't feel like that is what the poster was asking.

Sysprep is made by Microsoft - I suggest you google it, there are plenty of guides on it. You use it before you clone / image the system for deployment. it doesn't clone.
