No AeDebug key

I'm trying to disable Dr Watson, because every time my computer freezes, "his" name usually pops up. Either with a useless error message, or in my Task Manager when I try to find out what is pushing my CPUs to 100%. After "googling" his name I found several responses that said I should modify the AeDebug key in my registry. Problem is that there IS no AeDebug key in my HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ folder.

Where do I go from here? I thought about just creating one, but I'm not REAL familiar with registry hacking, and wondered if doing so, or doing it the wrong way could turn my computer in to a paperweight. Any advice on what I should do would be appreciated.

Not sure if it matters, but my OS is Windows XP sp3

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've already run that "Fix it" twice. Dr Watson reappeared after both "Fix it"s were applied. I'm assuming it didn't work because of the missing key, but who knows.

 

Drwatson is a debugging tool that tech support people can use to debug crashes and such, if you want to disable it, you should be ok to create that key if you do it exactly in the place and of the type the registry wants. Good luck.

 

Ok, I will do that, thanks. I've haven't seen the doctor for a few days for some reason. Maybe some good karma is returning? Yeah, right :-D
