I hear they are going be coming out soon.

Yes 1TB or 2TB memory cards!! There is 16GB and 32GB cards now !! But they are very very very very costly .And when SDXC come out only the rich will be able to get it.

Why is memory cards and like flash so costly? I mean I get get 500GB hard drive or 1TB hard-drive alot cheaper !!!

Not to say with cloud computing with your data on the internet is future.

Unfortunately, trying to predict how a device not yet on the market will actually perform is the geek version of fortune telling.

Using SSDs as an example, the concept of no spinning platters implied better reliability. In reality, most of the first generation SSDs were far more prone to failure than a standard 7200 RPM HDD (I worked in retail at the time; the return/RMA rate on every brand except Intel was off the charts!).

As for the price, I have a few theories: First, manufacturers of any new product attempt to recoup as much of their R&D costs as possible when it first hits the market (think of DVD players, LCD monitors, etc.). Second, it likely costs a lot less to build a standard HDD than a solid state unit - especially when you factor in economies of scale (when you produce millions each year, the manufacturing/labor cost per unit is much less than an item produced in smaller quantities).

What is better a memory card or flash?

    They use the same technology.

mcsmc is right - they both use the same technology.

The only possible benefit of a card is it is easier to carry in a wallet (if you've lost as many drive caps as I have trying to carry a USB stick on my keychain, you'd understand :( ) The only catch is you have to have a SDHC card reader on every PC you plan on using it on.
