I have a desktop with windows 7, that sometime between 12am and 6am no longer connects to the internet. I have 2 more desktops, 2 laptops and 2 xboxs, and 2 ipods that can either connect wired or wireless that are still working fine. but the main "network" computer is not recognized.

I didnt think the others could connect if "mine" (the Windows 7 computer) didnt, and they are all running fine. under Networks it shows only an "unidentified network", and will not let me connect. the rest of the computers are still connected to my "home network".

I am so confused!!! I have tried everything I can think of. At the moment I I am running Norton. I have already ran Malware bytes and spybot in safemode. I have tried to hardwire it in, without the router. Restarted numberous times, it did Failed system restore, but honestly I haven't ever had system restore work on a single computer I have owned, so that one didnt surpise me.

I called my cable company, as when I go thru the troubleshooter is says to enter my ISP info, to which cable company said I didnt need. which makes sense.

I will be on and off this computer with internet and will check back so to answer any questions you might have for me.

    Thanks,
    Starlette

The only thing I remember downloading yesterday was a driver file from HP, that was it... other then drivers I dont D/L anything on that computer.

Check device manager for any X's, ?'s or !'s.

Have you tried the Windows 7 network troubleshooter?
Here's a link that explains how?

Yes I have checked, and no, no X's !'s or ?'s

I have also uninstalled and rebooted which re-installed it (the network adapter)

I have been searching on and off today, (trying to work) and I came across something that said to disable Bonjour, which didnt work.

I also, disabled IPv6 and left the 4 enabled.

read somethign about DNS disable but wasnt able to locate it according to directions.

the IPCONFIG release/renew trick didnt work.. it timed out.

I have found that there are many people that out of nowhere have this problem, with numerous fixes, all of which, so far have not worked for me.

I found a site sevenforums . com that has a bit of info on it.. just havent found the fix that works for mine.

    TIA

You say you have a "home network". Are all the computers listed having the same named network?

Is this the DNS thing you where on about :
Open your CMD as administrator then type
    ipconfig /flushdns
    net stop dnscache
    net start dnscache

Click enter after every entry !
    Good Luck Rusty ! ;)

OK, so I did this then I shut down my computer, and took the cable modem and unplugged it, along with the coaxle cord. let is set for a minute, plugged coaxle back in then the power, and hard lined my computer in. restarted computer. bam.. my computer has internet. but of course nothing else does.

Soooo, now how do I go about getting them all back up.

What steps do I take, I just want to make sure I do it in the correct order.

It seems to have made a "new" network 3.

Do I shut the modem off and my computers and switch wires to wire up the router then turn everything back on..

I have been working on this for 5 days and am so confused to wtf is going on I dont remember the correct way to do anything.

Once I get everything plugged back in I'm sure I'll need directions on how to do this all again, Its been at least a year since I have had to mess with the network. Nothing has changed since last year yet everything went crap on me. So I'll have start from scratch??

    TIA

Oh, and I forgot to add that I am in FF as IE will not load, keeps giving me errors. it just keeps doing it, i click repair it and then it says the tab has been recovered, then 2 seconds later it does the cycle all over again.

Screenshot attached.. while looking at the the properties of IE, I did come across something wierd, account unknown with a red ? next to it.

then, I took the screenshot of the properties, closed it all out, opened this, went back to IE to get another screen shot of the errors and BAM it loaded with no errors..

    WTF?? :confused
