Dayum. That's 3/4 of a mile. Wonder how you make something that shoots that distance as accurate as a sniper would need it?

LauraR, I remember reading of longer shots. :)

Hotshot sniper in one-and-a-half mile double kill

OR do a search on british sniper long range shot
    or google at http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...+shot&btnG=Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

    for lots more links.

I remember I once used to target shoot over 700 yards (2100 feet) using an iron sighted SMLE (Lee Enfield) and was lucky to hit the 6 foot square target. :-D

Nice!!! I want one! :-D Laura the guns are accurate. The new scopes are nice too. Once sighted in at a set distance, on some of the new ones, you can enter in ballistics, like the caliber, weight of the bullet and such via USB cable. You enter the range to the target, and the onboard electronics use the ballistic data, along with actual temperature and humidity, and the crosshairs adjust. The shooter must just deal with wind. And that is a civilian version, the military probably has better stuff.

    :cool

Here is a link if you like scope pron. http://www.barrett.net/optics/bors

And a older sniper model. http://www.barrett.net/firearms/model82a1 600 grain bullet... :-D This rifle is not anywhere near my price range. Around $10K for the gun, then you need a scope... :drool

Wow, I haven't seen this one on the military channel yet.(yes Fred, I do watch it;)) I think the last official record was by a Canadian @ 2430 yards IIRC.

Yes on the electronics as the spotter would enter all sorts of info into the ballistics computer even taking into account the earth's rotation.

EDIT: Oops, I see the Brits have surpassed that record.:)

Don't understand your comment there. I would think that as long as you adhere to the laws of your country, you may watch any show legally broadcast to you. Please enjoy the 'military channel' as long as you like.

Just to say that I do watch the military and hunting channels, this has nothing to do with my personal beliefs. They usually have the latest and greatest guns featured, that is all. I would guess that the military channel isn't making too many new shows. There was an ex-sniper on Discovery that showed new and upcoming stuff but I guess his contract is up too.

Sorry you misunderstood me, that was just meant in jest.;)

You will like this I think Augie. I was on the phone, reading this thread, and misread.

When I was on the phone, I read your post as being a sniper show on Disney. I was like WTH? :-D Discovery/Disney...;)

    Heck I stay confused.
