I have a problem with my laptop.

Well I dont know if its software or Hardware but here it goes. Okay so I had to restart it after i removed a virus and such...i was using it for hours prior to this event. When it restarted it went to the "flash screen" then a black screen with a blinking underscore in the upper left hand corner. Thats it. all it does. I can't hit F8 and go into safe mode nothing. When I hit keys it makes a loud beep though . Any advice would be great thanks

 

1. have you "tapped" the F8 key. Not held it down..

2. Actually, if you go to msconfig ( click Start, Run, and then type in msconfig and hit Enter) the system configuration utility box comes up.

You should see several tabs across the top. One of them, when selected, has, in the middle of the page, a box you can check that says "Safe Boot". . check that box, and then click Apply and Ok and it will prompt you to restart the computer. .

do this, and then it will boot up in Safe Mode. .

 

....i can not get to my desktop....and yes i kno how to get to safe mode...i can't i mean as soon as my laptop turns on it doesn't do anything.

 

Can you get into BIOS? Usually by tapping F2 or Del immediately after powering on. Check that memory and HDD are registering.

 

i can get in BIOS but I dont know how to check my HDD and such so what would I be looking for ??
