Winrar for win7 64bit advice please

Recently began using win7 64bit,,,could you suggest suitable winrar to use please..
equally can the forum explain what type of files are the following?

R00
R01
R02
RAR
SFV

my reason for asking is that they all appear in same programme? Thanks

WinRar is a paid program so it will give you a nag screen if you don't buy it.

7zip and Tugzip are free and will extract RAR files. It looks like 7zip has an installer specifically for 64bit on their homepage.

Whichever program you choose you just install it and right-click on the RAR file and choose "Extract to /File/Folder name", it will put together all the pieces to make the original file.

Rar is just a compression/archive software like Zip files. It has the ability to break up a large file and save it in smaller pieces for easier transfer over the internet. When you have a folder with all the pieces you use WinRAR or other program like 7zip or Tugzip to put the pieces back together.

RAR file is instructions for putting pieces back together.
R00, R001, R002 etc. are pieces of original file
SFV is a checksum file that will verify that you have all the pieces needed to make the big file.
