Bought new HD...and there's a problem on my end.

Bought a new HD so I could have 2 of them and I didn't know about something that is now biting me in the butt. The motherboard has two SATA ports, one for the first HD and one for the DVD drive.

    Can I....

A)Just replace the wires going into the DVD drive into the new HD and replace them when needed? (Need to watch a movie, put in the DVD drive. Otherwise leave it unplugged inside the case)

B)Get some kind of adapter that allows all three to function at once?

I think option B is improbable, so is option A a workable option barring the pain of unplugging-opening-switch cords when I want? Would the PC realize "Jack has unplugged the DVD drive for the backup HD again." or would it have a hissy fit every time?

    Ty for reading and helping

I would invest in an external HDD caddy rather than messing about inside the case, you can pick these up reletively cheap £5>£10 off ebay.

Anyway to tell if my PC has an open PCI slot without opening the PC?

According to the manufacters website I have: One PCI Express x16, One PCI Express x1,Two PCI (Not sure if the Two means both of them or I have 4)
