Wireless Video?

I have a client who wants to run his PC on a 60" (or larger) HDTV, and the TV is +/-40ft from the PC. I have read some reviews on USB-Wireless-VGA devices, but many seem to be limited to 30ft max, and most also seem to have some serious lag at distances of more than 6-8ft. He'll be primarily using the rig for showing pictures and videos shot with a camcorder. Any recommendations? I suggested moving the PC next to the TV, then using a wireless KB/mouse, or simply running a long video cable, but he's "stuck" on the idea of wireless video....

    Thanks!

The only thing that springs to mind would be use a wireless setup with external aerials that can be manipulated to within the range of the wireless system,if he wants portability in the say the laptop he could extend the aerial on the TV up the wall, around the room, wherever.s out of line of sight to increase the range.

I'll put some thought into it:)

EDIT I've got one somewhere but I've never used it,still boxed.

I've only seen the a few of the newer HDMI senders but they do struggle to send the data over range, usually the higher the resolution the lower the range.

This is the one I have,I've not tested it yet though but it has a range of 100m or 300feet only problem is your need composite output from the PC,my laptop only has HDMI and VGA so I can't use it with the laptop but it has the plus side of being dirt cheap at around $50.

The HDMI sender are way more expensive,I saw a review of an ASUS one recently and it only had a range of 60feet @1080p which is pretty terrible for the price @$600

Maplin has a decent one with a range of up to 150feet @ 720P,up to 75feet @1080p but again its its £180 about $350 it has a 30ms latency also which is pretty good, you could game on it quite well I believe they will deliver to the US if your kind find it over there.

I'll connect the one I have see if its any good,Then box it away,I have no use for it :-D

Can't find the link but very soon there is going to be a GTX 460 with a wireless video transmitter, built in.

    Maybe an option.

Galaxy to release GTX460 with wireless connectivity:

That might be a good way to go, but I'm not sure when they're going to hit the US market, and we need a solution in the next 1-2weeks. I read in one of the links I just posted that it was due out in Oct 2010, but I haven't heard much about this card since it's initial announcement back in Sept/Oct 2010. On the other hand, I haven't spent much time looking for it either. :-o

The link I gave you Dave should have given you all kinds of choices for connecting a computer to a TV wirelessly.

Yup! There's a ton of stuff there to sift thru... THANKS! I haven't heard from this guy in a couple days so he may have bailed, but if this comes to fruition, I'll post what we ended up doing....

    Thanks everyone!
